New page

= Banes World Bio-Engineering Guide =

== What is Bio-Engineering? ==

Bio-Engineering allows you to create a custom pet by extracting DNA from creatures throughout the world and combining them into a unique bio-engineered companion. The strength of your bio pet depends on the quality of creatures you extract DNA from and a bit of luck during the experimentation phase.

== Requirements ==

To use Bio-Engineering you must meet the following requirements:

* '''100 Animal Taming''' or '''100 Tinkering''' skill
* You must have completed the '''Bio-Engineer''' quest to unlock the ability

== Step 1: Extracting DNA ==

DNA is extracted from creatures using DNA vials. You must be within '''1 tile''' of the creature to attempt extraction. There are four types of DNA, each pulled from different aspects of the creature:

=== Prowess DNA ===

Captures the creature's physical combat traits: Strength, Hit Points, Physical Resistance, Min/Max Damage, Virtual Armor, Anatomy, Tactics, and Wrestling.

=== Environment DNA ===

Captures the creature's environmental traits: Dexterity, Stamina, Fire Resistance, Cold Resistance, Magic Resist skill, and Poisoning skill.

=== Mental DNA ===

Captures the creature's mental traits: Intelligence, Mana, Energy Resistance, Poison Resistance, Magery, Eval Int, and Meditation.

=== Mimic DNA ===

Captures the creature's appearance, sounds, and special abilities. This determines what your bio pet looks like and whether it will have a counter attack or special attack. If the source creature is mountable, your bio pet will also be mountable.

=== Extraction Success Rate ===

The chance of successfully extracting Prowess, Environment, or Mental DNA depends on the strength of the creature. Stronger creatures are harder to extract from. Weak creatures are nearly guaranteed, while very powerful creatures can be quite difficult.

'''Luck improves your extraction odds.''' Players with 3,000 or more Luck gain a bonus to extraction success, scaling up to a '''15% bonus at 7,000 Luck'''. This makes extracting from powerful creatures much more manageable for well-geared players.

Mimic DNA extraction always succeeds on wild creatures, but the special abilities it carries are determined randomly (see Special Abilities below).

=== Extraction Consequences ===

Whether you succeed or fail, extracting DNA is not without risk:

* The creature may become aggressive toward you
* The creature may die from the trauma of the extraction
* The extraction may go smoothly with no side effects
* On a failed extraction, there is a '''35% chance''' your vial will break

=== Extraction Restrictions ===

You '''cannot''' extract DNA from:

* Champions
* Vendors
* Doom bosses
* Humans
* Tamed creatures

'''Tip:''' The stats your bio pet gets come directly from the creatures you extract DNA from. Hunting down powerful creatures for extraction will result in a stronger bio pet. Build your Luck to improve your chances of successfully extracting from the toughest creatures.

== Step 2: Combining DNA ==

Once you have all four DNA types, use an '''Empty DNA Vial Set''' and target each DNA vial to add it to the set. You need one of each type — Prowess, Environment, Mental, and Mimic. The vial set will show your progress as you add each type.

When all four are combined, the system evaluates the overall quality of the DNA based on the combined stats. Quality ratings range from Very Low to Very High. The vial set is then converted into a '''Bio Pet Deed''' and the experimentation phase begins automatically.

During combination, skills are capped at 100 and stats are capped at server limits.

== Step 3: Experimentation ==

This is where you can improve your bio pet before it is created. When the Bio Pet Deed is generated, the '''Experimentation Menu''' opens automatically. You are given a number of experimentation points to spend across five categories.

=== How Experimentation Points Are Determined ===

You start with a base of '''3 points'''. Additional points come from:

{| class="wikitable"
|-
! Source !! Bonus
|-
| Intelligence 120+ || +1 point
|-
| Intelligence 125+ || +1 point
|-
| Intelligence 130+ || +1 point
|-
| Intelligence 140+ || +1 point
|-
| Luck (per 1,000, starting at 1,000) || +1 point per 1,000 Luck (maximum +6)
|}

The '''maximum possible experimentation points is 13''' with 140+ Intelligence and 6,000+ Luck.

=== Experimentation Categories ===

Each category has a limited number of attempts and a base success chance. Luck improves your odds in every category, with '''9,000 Luck guaranteeing success''' across all categories.

==== Control Slots (4 attempts max) ====

Reduces the pet's control slot requirement. Starts at 5 slots and can be reduced to a '''minimum of 3'''. Base success chance: '''90%'''.

==== Taming Needed (4 attempts max) ====

Reduces the minimum taming skill needed to control the pet. Each success reduces the requirement by 30 points. Base success chance: '''70%'''.

==== Prowess DNA (7 attempts max) ====

Boosts the pet's physical combat stats by 4% per success: Strength, Hit Points, Physical Resistance (capped at 85), Damage, Armor, Anatomy, Wrestling, and Tactics. Base success chance: '''60%'''.

==== Environment DNA (7 attempts max) ====

Boosts the pet's environmental stats by 4% per success: Dexterity, Stamina, Fire Resistance, Cold Resistance, and Magic Resist (all resistances capped at 85), and Poisoning skill. Base success chance: '''60%'''.

==== Mental DNA (7 attempts max) ====

Boosts the pet's mental stats by 4% per success: Intelligence, Mana, Energy Resistance and Poison Resistance (capped at 85), Magery, Eval Int, and Meditation. Base success chance: '''60%'''.

=== Experimentation Success Rates by Luck ===

{| class="wikitable"
|-
! Luck !! Control Slots !! Taming Needed !! Prowess / Environment / Mental
|-
| 0 || 90% || 70% || 60%
|-
| 3,000 || 93% || 80% || 73%
|-
| 5,000 || 95% || 86% || 82%
|-
| 6,000 || 96% || 90% || 86%
|-
| 7,000 || 97% || 93% || 91%
|-
| 9,000+ || 100% || 100% || 100%
|}

=== What Happens on Failure? ===

If an experiment fails, the stat goes in the '''opposite direction''' by the same amount:

* A failed Prowess, Environment, or Mental experiment will '''reduce''' your pet's stats in that category by 4%.
* A failed Control Slots experiment will '''increase''' the slots by 1 (up to a maximum of 5).
* A failed Taming experiment will '''increase''' the taming requirement by 30 points (up to a maximum of 120).

Choose wisely — you have limited points and every experiment is a gamble.

=== Resistance Cap ===

All resistances are hard capped at '''85''' during experimentation. No matter how many successful experiments you have, resistances will not exceed this value.

== Step 4: Creating Your Pet ==

Once you are satisfied with your experiments (or have used all your points), click '''Create Bio Pet Now''' in the experimentation menu. The Bio Pet Deed will be placed in your backpack.

Double-click the deed to summon your new bio-engineered pet. It will appear at your location already tamed and under your control.

== Special Abilities ==

Bio pets can have two types of special abilities. These are determined randomly when Mimic DNA is extracted — each has a '''15% chance''' of appearing on the DNA, regardless of the source creature.

=== Counter Attacks ===

These trigger automatically when your pet is hit by melee or spells (15% chance per hit). They cost stamina to perform.

{| class="wikitable"
|-
! Ability !! Effect !! Stamina Cost
|-
| '''Blunt Attack''' || Deals physical damage back to the attacker || 10
|-
| '''Counter Healing''' || Your pet heals itself when hit || 25
|-
| '''Poison Attack''' || Deals poison damage and applies poison to the attacker || 10
|}

=== Special Attacks ===

These are powerful abilities that trigger rarely during combat. They cost 50 stamina to perform.

{| class="wikitable"
|-
! Ability !! Effect
|-
| '''Trial By Fire''' || Rains fire projectiles on the target dealing heavy fire damage
|-
| '''Ice Blast''' || Deals cold damage and creates ice fragments around the target area
|-
| '''Comet Attack''' || Drops a comet that creates a shockwave damaging all hostile targets in range
|-
| '''Call Of Nature''' || Lets out a cry that turns nearby wild creatures against your pet's target
|-
| '''Acid Rain''' || Rains toxic acid on all nearby enemies, dealing poison damage and applying poison
|}

'''Note:''' It is possible for a bio pet to have both a counter attack and a special attack, one of them, or neither. Each rolls independently during Mimic DNA extraction.

== Tips for Success ==

* '''Hunt strong creatures''' for DNA extraction. Your bio pet's base stats come directly from the source creatures.
* '''Build your Luck''' — it improves DNA extraction success on tough creatures (3,000+ Luck), gives you more experimentation points (up to +6 at 6,000+ Luck), and increases your experiment success rates (100% at 9,000 Luck).
* '''Raise your Intelligence''' before experimenting. Every point of Int above 120 gives you more experimentation points to work with, up to +4 bonus at 140+ Int.
* '''Prioritize your experiments''' carefully. With a maximum of 13 points and up to 26 possible experiment slots across all categories, you cannot max everything. Focus on what matters most to you.
* '''Control Slots matter''' — reducing from 5 to 3 slots frees up room for additional pets or followers. You have 4 attempts but slots cannot go below 3.
* '''Experiment on Prowess, Environment, or Mental DNA''' to push your pet's stats beyond what the source creatures had, but beware of failures dragging those stats down.
* '''Farm Mimic DNA''' — special abilities are random with a 15% chance each. Extract multiple Mimic samples to find one with the abilities you want.
