This page answers the most common questions new and returning players have about Banes World. If your question isn't covered here, ask in our Discord — the community is friendly and happy to help.

Container Size

If all containers are showing up small and you are using anything but ClassicUO to connect. Open your paperdoll and go to options. Select the UO symbol and scroll down. Click the Enable Large Containers and hit apply then OK.

If you are using ClassicUO. You can go under the containers area under options and use the slider scale to increase the container size.

Accounts & Housing

How many houses can I have?

Each account can place 2 houses. Houses can range from small plots all the way up to castles (30×30), and all are fully customizable.

Need more room? Additional housing slots can be purchased from the UO Store ([store).

How many accounts can I have?

Each IP address is allowed 2 accounts. This means:

One person can have two accounts, or
Two people at the same address can have one account each.

If you have a special situation (roommates, shared household, etc.), reach out to Banethorn on Discord and we'll work it out.

Rules & Conduct

What are the rules?

Keep it simple: be fair, be honest, and play nice.

Banes World is a relaxed, easy-going server. We don't have a laundry list of rules — just use common sense and treat other players the way you'd want to be treated.

Regarding exploits:

If you discover a bug or exploit and report it to a GM, you'll be rewarded for helping improve the shard.
If you discover a bug or exploit and abuse it, it will be dealt with accordingly.

When in doubt, ask in Discord before assuming something is allowed.

Can I go AFK?

Yes — AFK activity is perfectly fine on Banes World. You're welcome to run macros, train skills, or gather resources while away from the keyboard.

The exceptions: AFK scripts designed to kill creatures in anyway are not allowed. This is not fair to the other players.

Do not interfere with other players while scripting. IE: raiding all the resources from vendors etc. This is unfair to the other players.

Just use common sense and treat everyone else like you want to be treated. If in doubt ask in discord.

Donations & Economy

Do I have to donate to play?

Absolutely not. Donations are entirely optional and are exactly what the name implies — a way to support the shard if you choose to.

All donation funds go directly toward hardware maintenance, power, and internet costs that keep the server running. Every contribution is greatly appreciated, but it is never required.

Everything in the game can be earned through gameplay. You can reach end-game content purely by playing and earning BW (Sovereigns) in-game through achievements and other activities.

Events & Content

What events can I expect?

Banes World has a growing library of events built up over the past few years, and they are run at various times throughout the year.

A few things to keep in mind:

This server is a passion project, not a full-time job. Events and new content are developed as time allows around real-life responsibilities.
There are 3 unpopulated maps that will be opened over time, each with its own theme and difficulty progression.
Madon was the first custom map to be developed and is mostly complete.

Stay tuned in Discord for event announcements — they tend to happen when you least expect them.

Server Infrastructure

How is the server hosted?

Banes World runs on dedicated, enterprise-grade hardware — not a rented VPS or a spare desktop in a closet. Here's what's under the hood:

Storage	NVMe U.2 drives in a RAID configuration
Network	10 Gbps fiber backbone with a dedicated fiber internet connection
Primary Backup	Synology RackStation NAS with on-site replication
Secondary Backup	Additional Synology NAS backing up to a separate off-site location
Additional Servers	2 additional Dell PowerEdge servers providing backup services, websites, and other hosted functions
Power Protection	Multiple UPS battery backups capable of sustaining the system for several hours during an outage

The UO server shares this infrastructure with several other servers, websites, and services — all maintained with the same level of care.
