Overview
Bags of Holding are special containers that eliminate the weight of all items placed inside them. Every item stored in a Bag of Holding contributes zero weight to your character, making them essential tools for managing your inventory. All Bags of Holding are Blessed, meaning they stay with you on death.
The bags come in several tiers, each with a different item capacity. Higher-tier bags hold more items and are correspondingly more valuable. Every new character on Banes World receives a starter bag automatically, and upgraded versions are available through the UO Store.
There is also a deed to upgrade the Rare Bag of Holding and the Rare Loot Bag of Holding. This deed will upgrade by 25 items. It is for sale in the UO Store.
Bag Tiers
| Bag | Max Items | Hue | How to Obtain |
|---|---|---|---|
| New Player Bag of Holding | 15 | 1925 | Given to every new character automatically |
| Lesser Bag of Holding | 12 | 1925 | UO Store |
| Bag of Holding | 24 | 1923 | UO Store |
| Greater Bag of Holding | 36 | 1927 | UO Store |
| Legendary Bag of Holding | 48 | 1922 | UO Store |
| Rare Bag of Holding | 125 | 1919 | UO Store |
| Rare Bag of Holding Loot Bag | 125 | 1919 | UO Store |
All bags weigh 1.0 stones regardless of what is inside them. The contents have zero effective weight — you could fill a Rare Bag of Holding with 125 heavy items and it would still only weigh 1 stone.
New Player Bag of Holding
Every new character receives a New Player Bag of Holding when they enter the world. This bag has some unique properties that set it apart from the other tiers:
- Soulbound — The bag binds to the first player who picks it up or opens it. Once bound, only that player can open, pick up, or place items into the bag. Attempting to interact with someone else's bag will produce the message: "This isn't your bag! Shame on you!"
- Cannot be traded — The bag cannot be given to other players through the secure trade window.
- Personalized name — Once bound, the bag is renamed to "[Your Name]'s New Player Bag of Holding."
- 15 item capacity — Slightly more than the Lesser Bag of Holding, giving new players a solid starting container.
The soulbound nature of this bag means it is truly yours alone. Think of it as your personal starter vault — great for keeping your most important items safe and weightless as you begin your adventure.
Rare Bag of Holding Loot Bag
The Rare Bag of Holding Loot Bag is a separate item from the standard Rare Bag of Holding. Both are available in the UO Store and both hold 125 items with zero weight, but the Loot Bag variant can be designated as your Loot Bag for use with the automated loot system. When configured as your loot bag, items collected from creatures you defeat are automatically deposited into it.
With a capacity of 125 items and zero weight, the Loot Bag version is ideal for extended farming and dungeon runs without worrying about becoming overloaded. The standard Rare Bag of Holding functions as a normal container and cannot be used with the loot system.
Tips
- Upgrade when you can. The New Player Bag is a great start, but its 15-item limit fills up fast. Consider picking up a Bag of Holding or Greater Bag of Holding from the UO Store when you're ready.
- Use them for heavy items. Reagents, ingots, boards, and other heavy crafting materials are perfect candidates for a Bag of Holding since the weight reduction is most impactful on bulk goods.
- The Rare Bag is king for farmers. At 125 items with zero weight and loot bag compatibility, the Rare Bag of Holding is the ultimate container for players who spend a lot of time hunting.
- Your New Player Bag is safe. Because it's soulbound and blessed, it's one of the most secure containers in the game. No one else can access it, and you won't lose it on death.
