The Bio-Engineer Dungeon is a two-level dungeon located in northeastern Unblovia on Madon. It is home to rogue geneticists and their twisted bio-engineered creations. The dungeon is a primary source of Organics, Empty DNA Vials, and rare DNA Items used in the Bio-Engineering system.

⚠ WARNING: Several monsters in this dungeon can instantly kill your pets. Always bond your pets before entering. Bonded pets can be resurrected at the Pet Resurrect Stones located near the dungeon entrance and on the lower level.

Location & Access

The dungeon entrance is a cave in the northeast corner of Unblovia on Madon. Just outside the main entrance you will find:

These are critical resources — you will need them.

Dungeon Layout

Upper Level

The upper level is accessible directly from the cave entrance. It contains the dungeon's weaker creatures and the humanoid geneticist enemies. This level is suitable for mid-tier characters and tamers with expendable or well-bonded pets.

The upper level features a cemetery area with a crypt entrance that leads down to the lower level.

Lower Level

The lower level is accessed by entering the crypt in the cemetery area of the upper level. This is where the dungeon's most dangerous creatures reside, including the boss encounter, The Arch Geneticist.

A second set of resurrect stones (both player and pet) is located near the stairs on the lower level, providing a recovery point without having to return to the surface.

Creature Details

Genetic Failure

Genetic Failure
Corpse a puddle of goo
Hit Points 13–17
Damage 3–9 (100% Physical)
Fame/Karma 450 / -450

The weakest creature in the dungeon. Genetic failures are the botched results of bio-engineering experiments — small globs of biological matter that pose almost no threat. They serve as fodder on the upper level and are also spawned by The Arch Geneticist during the boss fight.

Resistances: Physical 15–20 | Cold 40–50 | Poison 20–30 | Energy 10–20

Loot: Organics (30–60)

Bio Ooze

Bio Ooze
Corpse a puddle of toxic ooze
Hit Points 400–600
Damage 10–16 (30% Physical / 70% Poison)
Fame/Karma 3,000 / -3,000

Toxic puddles of bio-engineered slime. Bio oozes deal primarily poison damage and have a 60% chance to inflict Greater Poison on melee hit. They are immune to lethal poison and cannot bleed. Characters without poison resistance or cure potions should avoid prolonged melee with these creatures.

Immunities: Poison Immune (Lethal); Bleed Immune

Resistances: Physical 30–40 | Fire 10–20 | Cold 30–40 | Poison 80–95 | Energy 15–25

Skills: Poisoning 80.0–100.0

Loot: Organics (30–70)

Bio Mutant

Bio Mutant
Corpse a mutated corpse
Hit Points 500–750
Damage 12–18 (60% Physical / 40% Poison)
Fame/Karma 4,000 / -4,000

Hulking, misshapen beasts created through genetic tampering. Bio mutants are straightforward melee fighters with moderate health pools and respectable damage. They appear in random body forms, making them visually unpredictable. Also spawned by The Arch Geneticist as adds during the boss fight.

Immunities: Poison Immune (Regular)

Resistances: Physical 35–45 | Fire 20–30 | Cold 25–35 | Poison 60–70 | Energy 15–25

Loot: Organics (40–80); 10% chance Empty DNA Vial

Evil Bio Engineer

Evil Bio Engineer
Title the insane bio engineer
Hit Points 750–1,250
Damage 10–23
Fame/Karma 5,000 / -5,000

Rogue scientists who have gone mad from their experiments. Evil bio engineers are humanoid melee combatants who carry random weapons (longswords, cutlasses, broadswords, axes, clubs, daggers, or spears). They wear leather armor dyed in distinctive hues. While not as dangerous as the genetecists, they are a solid source of Organics and crafting supplies.

Loot: Organics (150–300); 25% chance for an Empty DNA Vial or Empty DNA Vial Set

Evil Genetecist

Evil Genetecist
Title the evil genetecist
Hit Points 1,900–2,100
Damage 10–23
Fame/Karma 5,000 / -5,000

⚠ WARNING: Pet Killer: When a controlled pet attacks an Evil Genetecist in melee, there is a 25% chance the genetecist will attempt to extract DNA from the pet, instantly killing it. The genetecist will then retarget the pet's owner.

The most dangerous humanoid enemy on the upper level. Evil genetecists are mage-type combatants with high intelligence, strong magery, and substantial hit points. They wear distinctive green-hued robes and leather armor.

They have a rare chance (0.6%) to drop high-quality DNA Items, including Very High quality DNA from powerful creatures such as a dark father, a fox guardian, Mondain The Wizard, or a hell chicken (Mimic type).

Resistances: Equipped armor only

Loot:

Bio Construct

Bio Construct
Corpse a pile of bio matter
Hit Points 1,000–1,400
Damage 16–24 (70% Physical / 30% Poison)
Fame/Karma 8,000 / -8,000

Stitched-together amalgamations of biological matter. Bio constructs are tough melee combatants with passive health regeneration, recovering health continuously during combat. They are immune to bleeding effects and Greater Poison, making them durable opponents that are difficult to wear down.

Immunities: Poison Immune (Greater); Bleed Immune

Special: Regenerates health passively (5 HP per think cycle)

Resistances: Physical 55–65 | Fire 15–25 | Cold 40–50 | Poison 65–80 | Energy 20–30

Loot: Organics (80–150); 12% chance Empty DNA Vial

Bio-Spliced Drake

Bio-Spliced Drake
Corpse a mutated drake corpse
Hit Points 1,500–2,000
Damage 18–26 (40% Physical / 30% Fire / 30% Poison)
Fame/Karma 10,000 / -10,000

Drakes that have been genetically altered with toxic compounds. Bio-spliced drakes are mage-type combatants with Dragon Breath and solid all-around resistances. They serve as the mid-tier threat on the lower level.

Immunities: Poison Immune (Greater)

Special: Dragon Breath

Resistances: Physical 50–60 | Fire 55–65 | Cold 35–45 | Poison 70–80 | Energy 40–50

Loot:

Bio-Forged Balron

Bio-Forged Balron
Corpse a twisted demonic corpse
Hit Points 3,000–3,800
Damage 27–35 (30% Physical / 30% Fire / 20% Energy / 20% Poison)
Fame/Karma 18,000 / -18,000

⚠ WARNING: Pet Killer: When a controlled pet attacks a Bio-Forged Balron in melee, there is a 15% chance the balron will lash out with unstable energy, instantly killing the pet. The balron will then retarget the pet's owner.

Balrons twisted by bio-engineering into something even more terrifying. These are powerful mage-type combatants with Dragon Breath, high resistances across the board, and the ability to instantly destroy pets. They are unprovokable and among the most dangerous regular spawns in the dungeon.

Immunities: Poison Immune (Lethal); Unprovokable

Special: Dragon Breath

Resistances: Physical 65–75 | Fire 70–80 | Cold 40–55 | Poison 80–90 | Energy 55–65

Loot:

Damage 28–38 (30% Physical / 30% Fire / 20% Poison / 20% Energy)
Fame/Karma 22,000 / -22,000

The apex predator of the dungeon's regular spawns. Bio-spliced dragons are massively powerful mage-type combatants with Dragon Breath, exceptional resistances, and the highest health pool of any non-boss creature in the dungeon. They are both unprovokable and uncalmable.

Bio-spliced dragons are also one of the best sources of rare DNA Items, with a 1% chance to drop High quality DNA in Prowess, Environment, or Mental types.

Immunities: Poison Immune (Lethal); Unprovokable; Uncalmable

Special: Dragon Breath

Resistances: Physical 65–75 | Fire 70–85 | Cold 50–60 | Poison 75–90 | Energy 55–70

Hit Points 3,700
Damage 34–36 (20% each: Physical / Cold / Fire / Energy / Poison)
Fame/Karma 20,000 / -20,000

Massive monstrosities — the ultimate result of unchecked genetic experimentation. Abominations deal heavy damage split evenly across all five damage types and possess extreme resistances, including 100% Poison Resistance and 90% Cold Resistance. They are unprovokable and uncalmable.

Immunities: Poison Immune (Lethal); Unprovokable; Uncalmable

Resistances: Physical 75 | Fire 60 | Cold 90 | Poison 100 | Energy 60

Loot:

  • Organics (500–950)
  • Treasure Map (Level 5)

⚠ WARNING: Pet Killer: When a controlled pet attacks The Arch Geneticist in melee, there is a 20% chance the boss will extract the pet's DNA, instantly killing it. The Arch Geneticist heals 1,000–2,000 HP each time it kills a pet this way. The boss will then retarget the pet's owner.

The Arch Geneticist is the boss of the Bio-Engineer Dungeon, found on the lower level. It is a humanoid figure clad in bone armor dyed in sickly green hues — the mastermind behind the dungeon's genetic horrors. This is a challenging encounter that requires a group and careful pet management.

Boss Mechanics

Mutant Spawns

When the Arch Geneticist drops below 75% health, it begins summoning Genetic Failures and Bio Mutants as adds. It can summon up to 6 adds total, spawning a new one every 30–45 seconds. Each add is summoned with a particle effect and the boss will announce: "Rise, my creation!"

Toxic Burst (AoE)

When the Arch Geneticist drops below 50% health, it unleashes a Toxic Burst — an area-of-effect attack that hits all players and controlled pets within 8 tiles. This attack:

  • Deals 30–50 poison damage
  • Applies Deadly Poison
  • Fires every 20–35 seconds
  • Is announced with: "Feel the power of unstable DNA!"

Pet Extraction

The Arch Geneticist has a 20% chance to instantly kill any controlled pet that attacks it in melee. When this triggers, the boss:

  • Kills the pet instantly
  • Heals itself for 1,000–2,000 HP
  • Retargets the pet's owner
  • Announces: "Your creature's DNA will serve my research!"

This heal-on-kill mechanic means that sending waves of unbonded pets at the boss is counterproductive — it will simply sustain itself.

Tips & Strategy

General Advice

  • Always bond your pets before entering this dungeon. Three different creatures (Evil Genetecist, Bio-Forged Balron, and The Arch Geneticist) can instantly kill controlled pets. Bonded pets can be resurrected at the resurrect stones.
  • Carry Greater Cure Potions — multiple creatures inflict poison, and the Bio Ooze has a 60% hit poison rate with Greater Poison.
  • The resurrection facilities near the entrance (Ankh + Pet Resurrect Stone) and on the lower level (by the stairs) mean you can recover quickly after a death.
  • Bio Constructs regenerate health. Focus fire them down quickly rather than splitting damage.

Tamer Strategy

  • Pet deaths are a major risk here. The pet-killing mechanics trigger on melee attacks from the pet to the monster, so every round of pet melee carries a chance of instant death.
  • Against the Evil Genetecist (25% kill chance), Bio-Forged Balron (15% kill chance), and The Arch Geneticist (20% kill chance), be prepared to resurrect and rebond frequently.
  • The Arch Geneticist heals when it kills pets, so recklessly throwing pets at it will only prolong the fight.
  • Consider using ranged damage or magic-focused strategies to supplement pet damage against pet-killing enemies.

Arch Geneticist Boss Strategy

  • Bring a group. The boss has 25,000–30,000 HP, high resistances, 120 in all combat skills, and multiple dangerous mechanics.
  • The fight has two phases: at 75% HP the boss starts summoning adds, and at 50% HP it begins using Toxic Burst.
  • Designate someone to handle the add spawns (Genetic Failures and Bio Mutants) so they don't overwhelm the group.
  • Spread out when the boss drops below 50% to minimize Toxic Burst damage (8-tile radius).
  • Keep Deadly Poison cures on hand for the Toxic Burst's poison application.
  • The boss's pet extraction heals it — if your pets keep dying, you may be feeding the boss more HP than you're dealing in damage.
  • The second set of resurrect stones near the lower level stairs allows for quick recovery during attempts.
