The PvP Arena System lets players challenge one another to organized, rules-based duels in a safe, contained arena. Win or lose, your character returns home unharmed — no insurance loss, no item drops to enemies, and a friendly Arena Manager waiting to resurrect the fallen. Whether you want a casual 1-vs-1, a chaotic free-for-all, or a ranked team battle, the arena is where Banes World settles its scores.
Getting Started
Every arena has three things you need to know:
- The Arena Stone — your control panel. Double-click it to host or join a duel, check your stats, or view the rankings.
- The Arena Manager — a helpful NPC who resurrects you if you fall in battle and stables pets that exceed your duel's pet-slot limit.
- The Arena Gate — a glowing portal that appears near the stone once a duel is ready. Walking through it transports you into the arena.
To begin, simply walk up to an Arena Stone and double-click it. You must be within range of the stone to use its menu.
The Arena Stone Menu
Double-clicking the stone opens the main menu with these options:
- Host a duel — Create your own duel session and set all the rules.
- Join a duel — Browse open public sessions and request entry.
- See booked duels — View sessions waiting in the queue for an open arena.
- Check your stats — Review your personal win/loss record and recent duels.
- Check arena rankings — See the top-rated duelists on the shard.
- Ignore duel invite (ON/OFF) — Toggle whether other players can invite you to their duels.
Hosting a Duel
Select Host a duel to open the rules configuration screen. Here you set every parameter of your duel. Click a setting to cycle through its available options, then press OK when you're satisfied.
| Setting | Options | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum Entries | 2 to 10 | The total number of players allowed in the duel. |
| Room Type | Public / Private | Public duels appear in the "Join a duel" list. Private duels are invitation-only. |
| Arena | (display only) | Shows which arena you're hosting at. |
| Battle Mode | Survival / Team | Survival is every-player-for-themselves. Team splits duelists into Order (Blue) vs. Chaos (Red). |
| Ranked | Yes / No | Ranked duels affect your rating on the arena leaderboards. |
| Time Limit | 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 30 minutes | If the timer runs out with players still standing, the duel ends in a draw. |
| Entry Fee | 0 / 1,000 / 5,000 / 10,000 / 25,000 / 50,000 gold | Each participant pays this fee, which is added to a prize pot for the winner(s). |
| Pet Slots | 0 to 5 slots | The maximum control slots of pets you may bring into the arena. |
| Riding/Flying | Allowed / Prohibited | Whether mounts and flying are permitted. |
| Ranged Weapons | Allowed / Prohibited | Whether bows, crossbows, and other ranged weapons may be used. |
| Summoning Spells | Allowed / Prohibited | Whether summoned creatures are permitted. |
| Field Spells | Allowed / Prohibited | Whether field spells (Fire Field, Poison Field, Paralyze Field, Energy Field, Wall of Stone) may be cast. |
| Potion | ALL OK / NONE / NO HEALING | Controls which potions can be used during the duel. |
After pressing OK, your session becomes active and you're taken to the queuing screen.
The Queuing Screen
Once you've created a session, the queuing screen shows your participant list and gives the host several controls:
- Start the duel — Begin the match. You need at least one other participant to start.
- Cancel the duel — Close the session. If an entry fee was paid, it is refunded.
- Invite a duelist — Target a nearby player to send them an invitation.
- See booked duels — Check the booking queue.
- See the rules — Review the duel's current settings.
In Team mode, the host can also use the swap button beside each player's name to move them between the Order (Blue) and Chaos (Red) teams. The host can kick/ban individual participants using the button next to their name.
Click any participant's name button to view their individual stats before the fight begins.
Inviting Players
When you invite someone, they must be:
- Alive (you cannot invite dead players)
- Not a Young player
- Accepting invitations (not in "ignore invites" mode)
- Within range of the arena stone
- Not already a participant or previously banned from this session
Joining a Duel
If you'd rather join an existing fight, choose Join a duel from the stone menu. This lists all open public sessions along with the host's name and the current participant count. Select one to view its rules, then press ENTRY to request to join.
You can only join sessions that:
- Aren't full
- Haven't already started or entered the pre-fight phase
- Are on the same facet where the session was created
Entering the Arena
When the host starts the duel, an Arena Gate opens near the stone and a message announces it. You have 90 seconds to walk through the gate — if you don't make it in time, you'll be removed from the duel.
Before passing through, make sure:
- You aren't carrying more pet control slots than the duel allows. If you are, stable your excess pets with the Arena Manager first.
- You can pay the entry fee (if any). The fee is taken from your backpack first, then your bank box. If you can't afford it, you can't enter.
Once all participants are inside, a short countdown begins, the barriers drop, and the duel starts!
During the Duel
While fighting, the arena enforces the rules your host configured:
- Spells cannot be cast during the pre-fight countdown.
- Prohibited field spells fizzle with a magical aura.
- Mounts/flying, if prohibited, will dismount you — and repeated violations cause penalty damage, escalating sharply if you ignore the warning.
- Ranged weapons, if prohibited, are automatically moved to your backpack.
- Summoned creatures, if prohibited, are dismissed.
- You cannot loot another player's corpse inside the arena.
- You cannot teleport out of the arena, and recall/gate travel is blocked.
The duel ends when one team (or one survivor) remains, or when the time limit expires.
Winning, Losing, and Leaving
When the duel concludes, a results screen displays the winner and a kill record. Then:
- Winners receive a congratulations message, a celebratory visual effect, and an equal share of the prize pot (if there was an entry fee).
- Losers are notified of the defeat.
- If ranked, everyone's rating is adjusted — winners gain points, losers lose points.
All participants are ejected from the arena 40 seconds after the duel ends. If you died during the fight, the Arena Manager will offer to resurrect you when you're near.
Leaving Early
To leave before a duel ends, double-click an Arena Exit Banner. You'll be asked to confirm. Note that you cannot exit during the pre-fight phase — you must wait until the duel has actually started. Leaving an active duel counts as forfeiting your participation.
Stats and Rankings
Your Personal Stats
The Check your stats option shows a detailed breakdown:
- Survival wins, losses, and draws
- Team battle wins, losses, and draws
- Total kills and deaths
- Your most recent duel results, including who you killed or were killed by
You can toggle Open Stats on or off. When open, other players can view your stats; when closed, only you can see them.
Leaderboards
The Check arena rankings option displays the shard leaderboards. Everyone starts at a base rating of 10,000, gaining or losing points with each ranked duel. You can switch between Team and Survival rankings, jump to the top of the list, or jump directly to your own position.
Gladiator Titles
As you complete duels, you earn reward titles that mark you as a seasoned arena veteran:
| Duels Completed | Title |
|---|---|
| 1 | Fledgling Gladiator |
| 50 | Budding Gladiator |
| 100 | Gladiator |
| 250 | Well-Known Gladiator |
| 500 | Veteran Gladiator |
Earned titles can be displayed beneath your character name. Show off how many battles you've survived!
Tips for New Duelists
- Start with unranked duels while you learn the ropes — your rating won't suffer while you practice.
- Stable extra pets before the gate opens to avoid being locked out.
- In team mode, coordinate with your team. Friendly fire is disabled, so focus your attacks on the enemy.
- Watch the clock — if you're ahead on numbers, playing defensively until the timer runs out can secure a draw rather than risk a loss.
- Set your duel to Private if you only want specific friends to join.
