NPC Title Location
Alfonso Quest Giver Tinker Shop, Minoc (Trammel)
Banhi The Glassblower Blacksmith Shop, Minoc (Trammel)

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Step 1 — Speak with Alfonso

Right-click Alfonso at the Tinker Shop and select the context menu option to begin. He explains that he makes famous Dragon Lanterns but has run out of glowing ingredients. He needs a special glass jar to gather them — and only Banhi the Glassblower can make such jars.

You receive:

  • A Dragon Lantern Quest Book (blessed, keep this in your pack)

Alfonso directs you to visit Banhi at the Blacksmith Shop in Minoc.

Step 2 — Visit Banhi the Glassblower

Find Banhi inside the Blacksmith Shop in Minoc. Right-click him and speak with him.

Banhi grumbles about Alfonso's disorganized business practices but agrees to help — on one condition. He's nearly out of the special glass he needs and requires 5 pieces of Magic Sand to make you a jar.

He gives you:

  • A Magic Sand Shovel (10 uses, no Mining skill required)

Your Quest Book updates with the location of the sand and new instructions.

Step 3 — Mine the Magic Sand

Head north through Minoc until you find a bridge leading to the mines. Cross the bridge and enter the cave immediately inside.

Right inside the cave entrance, use the Magic Sand Shovel to mine the ground. Magic Sand will appear one piece at a time.

Important rules:

  • Pick up each piece of sand before mining the next — only one piece can
exist on the ground at a time due to its magical nature.
  • No Mining skill is required — anyone can use the shovel.
  • The shovel has 10 uses, giving you plenty of attempts to gather the
 required 5 pieces.

Once you have 5 Magic Sand, return to Banhi at the Blacksmith Shop and give him the sand.

Step 4 — Receive the Empty Glass Jar

Bring the 5 Magic Sand to Banhi. He is pleased and hands over his last Glowing Glass Bottle (Empty).

He also updates your Quest Book with the final ingredients you need and where to find them — information Alfonso forgot to pass along (much to Banhi's annoyance).

You receive:

  • Glowing Glass Bottle (Empty)
  • Quest Book updates with ingredient locations

Step 5 — Gather the Glowing Ingredients

Return to the Minoc mines to find the final two ingredients. You need:

Ingredient Amount Source
Glowing Firefly Tails 5 Glowing Fireflies — found in a cave near

the top of the mine path

Glowing Ooze 5 Glowing Slimes — spawn along the rocky pathway as

you climb; they ooze out of the rocks

Hunt the Glowing Fireflies in the cave near the top of the mine and collect their tails. Fight or avoid the Glowing Slimes that appear along the path and collect their ooze.

Step 6 — Fill the Bottle

Once you have all of the following in your backpack:

  • 5 × Glowing Firefly Tails
  • 5 × Glowing Ooze
  • 1 × Glowing Glass Bottle (Empty)

Double-click the empty bottle. If you have all the required ingredients they will be consumed automatically and the bottle will transform into a Glowing Glass Bottle (Full).

You will see the message:

The jar is full, hurry back to Alfonso for your reward!

If something goes wrong, double-check that you have the correct amounts of all three items in your backpack.

Step 7 — Return to Alfonso

Bring the Glowing Glass Bottle (Full) back to Alfonso at the Tinker Shop in Minoc. Drag and drop the full bottle onto him to complete the quest.

Alfonso accepts the bottle and rewards you:

Reward Details
Dragon Lantern Deed A unique decorative lantern for your home
Gold 5,000 gp placed in your backpack

Your Quest Book is automatically removed upon completion. Alfonso thanks you warmly — despite having sent you on a rather involved errand for what he calls a "small token of appreciation."

Tips & Notes

  • The Quest Book is blessed and cannot be lost to death — keep it in
your pack for easy reference throughout the quest.
  • The Magic Sand Shovel requires no Mining skill — any character can
complete this quest regardless of skills.
  • Mine and pick up sand one piece at a time — the next piece won't
appear until you pick up the current one.
  • The Glowing Firefly Tails and Glowing Ooze are not stackable — expect
to carry five separate items of each.
  • Do not turn in more than one full bottle at a time — the turn-in only checks
 for a single bottle.
  • You can do this quest on any character; no combat skills are strictly
required, though the mine creatures will need to be dealt with somehow.
