Brewing
The Brewing system lets players craft kegs of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages using the Cooking skill. From hearty mead and ale to fresh-brewed coffee and hot cocoa, there's something for every taste. Pair it with the Beer Brewing system next door and you can run a full tavern operation out of your house.

Getting Started
You'll need:
- Brewer's Tools — Purchase from the Brewer NPC, located west of Main Street, down the steps on the left, near the Long Neck Beer Brewer and the vineyard.
- A Keg — Every recipe produces a full keg of beverage. Buy empty kegs from the Brewer.
- Ingredients — The Brewer sells all the basics: hops, yeast, malt, barley, sugar, coffee, tea leaves, cocoa, and water.
- A Distillery or Steam-Powered Beverage Maker — Alcoholic beverages (Mead and Ale) require a Brew Distillery addon placed in your home. Non-alcoholic beverages (Cider, Coffee, Tea, and Cocoa) require a Steam-Powered Beverage Maker addon instead.
Double-click your Brewer's Tools to open the Brewing Menu.

Skill Requirement
Brewing uses the Cooking skill. All keg recipes require 80.0 – 105.6 Cooking skill. This is an advanced crafting activity — you'll want to train Cooking up through regular food preparation or Beer Brewing before tackling kegs.
---
Equipment
Two different house addons are used depending on what you're brewing:
| Addon | Used For | Orientation |
|---|---|---|
| Brew Distillery | Mead, Ale (alcoholic) | East-facing or South-facing deed variants |
| Steam-Powered Beverage Maker | Cider, Coffee, Tea, Cocoa (non-alcoholic) | Single piece |
You must be standing near the appropriate addon when crafting. Using the wrong station (or no station at all) will prevent you from brewing that recipe.

Recipes
Alcoholic Beverages
These require a Brew Distillery and will increase your character's Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) when consumed. Drink too much and you'll start to stumble.
| Beverage | Skill | Hops | Keg | Water | Other Ingredients |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Keg of Mead | 80.0 – 105.6 | 50 Bitter Hops | 1 | 20 | 3 Malt, 3 Brewers Yeast |
| Keg of Ale | 80.0 – 105.6 | 50 Bitter Hops | 1 | 20 | 3 Barley, 3 Brewers Yeast |
Non-Alcoholic Beverages
These require a Steam-Powered Beverage Maker. They quench thirst without raising your BAC.
| Beverage | Skill | Keg | Water | Other Ingredients |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Keg of Cider | 80.0 – 105.6 | 1 | 20 | 100 Apples, 1 Bag of Sugar |
| Keg of Coffee | 80.0 – 105.6 | 1 | 20 | 5 Bags of Coffee |
| Keg of Tea | 80.0 – 105.6 | 1 | 20 | 20 Tea Leaves |
| Keg of Cocoa | 80.0 – 105.6 | 1 | 20 | 5 Bags of Cocoa, 1 Bag of Sugar |

Hops Varieties
Alcoholic beverages use hops as a primary ingredient. The variety of hops you use affects the label and character of the finished product. Higher-tier hops require greater Cooking skill to work with:
| Hops Type | Skill Required |
|---|---|
| Bitter Hops | 40.0 |
| Snow Hops | 100.0 |
| Elven Hops | 110.0 |
| Sweet Hops | 120.0 |
The hops variety is reflected in the keg's label — for example, a keg of mead brewed with Elven Hops will display as "Elven Mead."
---
Quality
Every brewed beverage has a quality rating:
- Regular — The standard product. Mead displays as its hops variety (e.g. "Bitter Mead"), Coffee as "Black Coffee", Tea as "Green Tea", Cider as "Hard Cider", Cocoa as "Dark Cocoa."
- Exceptional — A superior brew. The label upgrades to a premium name:
| Beverage | Regular Label | Exceptional Label |
|---|---|---|
| Mead | [Hops] Mead | Black Label [Hops] Mead |
| Ale | [Hops] Ale | Black Label [Hops] Ale |
| Coffee | Black Coffee | Reserve Dark Roast Coffee |
| Tea | Green Tea | Reserve Sweet Green Tea |
| Cider | Hard Cider | Reserve Dark Cider |
| Cocoa | Dark Cocoa | Reserve Creamy Rich Cocoa |
Exceptional brews also record the crafter's name on the keg, displaying as "[Your Name] Brewery."

The Brewery Label Maker
Want to brand your brews? The Brewery Label Maker lets you name your brewery and apply custom labels to your products.
How to Use:
- Double-click the Brewery Label Maker.
- Target the Label Maker itself and type your brewery name.
- From that point on, any mead kegs or mead bottles you craft will automatically carry your brewery name — as long as the Label Maker is in your backpack.
- You can also target individual mead kegs or mead bottles you've crafted to give them a custom name directly.
Rules:
- You can only label items you crafted yourself. Trying to relabel someone else's product won't work.
- The item must be in your backpack to label it.
- Keep the Label Maker in your pack while crafting to auto-label everything you produce.

Drinking Mechanics
Double-click any crafted beverage to drink it. Each sip has a fill factor of 4 that increases your thirst satisfaction. As you drink more, the messages progress:
- "You drink the beverage, but are still extremely thirsty." (thirst below 5)
- "You drink the beverage, and begin to feel more satiated." (thirst 5–9)
- "After drinking the beverage, you feel much less thirsty." (thirst 10–14)
- "You feel quite full after consuming the beverage." (thirst 15–19)
- "You manage to drink the beverage, but you are full!" (thirst maxed at 20)
Alcoholic beverages (Mead, Ale, and Cider) also raise your BAC by 5 per drink, up to a maximum of 60. Drink responsibly — or don't, it's your character.

Tips
- Cider requires 100 Apples per keg. That's a lot of fruit. Stock up in advance or grow your own.
- The Brewery Label Maker auto-labels as long as it's in your backpack. Set your brewery name once and forget about it.
- Mead and Ale are the only recipes that use hops. Non-alcoholic beverages skip hops entirely and use unique primary ingredients instead.
- Exceptional quality is your goal for premium labels and crafter credit. Higher Cooking skill improves your odds.
- Pair Brewing with Beer Brewing for a full range of products. Beer Brewing covers individual long neck bottles at lower skill levels, while keg Brewing is the endgame for serious crafters.
- Place both a Distillery and a Beverage Maker in your house if you want to brew the full menu without traveling.
