Yard & Garden System
The Yard & Garden System allows homeowners to landscape the area around their house with plants, trees, ground tiles, fences, gates, stairs, fountains, water features, and more. Items are purchased with gold from your backpack through an in-game menu, placed with a targeting cursor, and can be refunded at any time for a full gold return.
The system is accessed through the Yard Wand, available from the Token Vendor on Main Street for 100,000 tokens.
Getting Started
- Purchase a Yard Wand from the Token Vendor on Main Street (100,000 tokens).
- Place the Yard Wand in your backpack.
- Stand inside your house.
- Double-click the Yard Wand to open the Yard & Garden menu.
You must be the house owner to place yard items. Items can be placed up to 10 tiles in any direction from where you are standing — in front of, behind, beside, and even inside the house.
The Main Menu
When you open the Yard Wand, you will see the main Yard & Garden menu. It displays your current gold on hand (counted from your backpack and any containers inside it) and three colored buttons on the left side, each leading to a category of items.
| Button Color | Category | What It Contains |
|---|---|---|
| Green | Plants | Single-tile flowers, ferns, bushes, mushrooms, and other small vegetation |
| Red | Trees | Multi-tile trees with trunks and leaf canopies |
| Blue | Ground & Structures | Ground tiles, fences, gates, stairs, fountains, water, lava, and swamp tiles |
Each category contains multiple pages of items you can browse through. Select an item, and a price will be displayed. Click Place to get a targeting cursor, then click the ground where you want the item to appear.
Item Categories
Plants
Five pages of single-tile decorative plants including flowers, ferns, grasses, bushes, cacti, mushrooms, and other small vegetation. These are simple one-tile items that are easy to place and rearrange.
Trees
Four pages of multi-tile trees. Each tree is made up of a trunk and leaf canopy that span multiple tiles, so they look like full-sized trees in the game world. Varieties include standard deciduous trees, yew trees, and trees with hanging vines.
Ground & Structures
This is the largest category, containing several sub-sections across many pages:
- Ground Tiles — Dirt, grass, sand, cobblestone, and other terrain tiles for building paths and landscaping.
- Fences — Various fence styles for enclosing your yard.
- Gates — Functional gates that open and close (see Gates section below).
- Stairs — Rotatable stair pieces in multiple stone and wood styles (see Stairs section below).
- Fountains — Large multi-tile stone and sandstone fountains.
- Water — Water tiles for ponds, streams, and moats.
- Swamp — Swamp and marsh tiles.
- Lava — Lava tiles for dramatic or dungeon-themed yards.
Placing Items
- Browse the menu and select the item you want. The price in gold is shown at the bottom of the menu.
- Click the Place button in the upper right.
- A targeting cursor appears — click the ground tile where you want to place the item.
- If you have enough gold and the location is within your yard (10 tiles of where you are standing inside your house), the item is placed and the gold is deducted from your backpack.
- The menu reopens on the same page so you can continue placing items.
If the target location is outside your yard boundaries, you will receive a message saying the placement is outside your yard and can try again.
Removing Items & Refunds
All yard items can be removed for a full gold refund equal to what you originally paid.
| Item Type | How to Remove |
|---|---|
| Plants, Ground Tiles, Trees, Fountains | Double-click the item. The gold is returned to your backpack and the item is deleted. |
| Stairs | Right-click the stair piece and select the Refund option from the context menu. |
| Gates | Right-click the gate and select the Refund option from the context menu. |
Only the player who placed the item (or a GM) can remove it. If someone else double-clicks your yard items, they will be told to stay out of your yard.
Gates
The system includes four styles of functional gates that open and close like real doors:
- Iron Gate (tall)
- Short Iron Gate
- Light Wood Gate
- Dark Wood Gate
Each gate style is available in multiple facing directions so you can match your fence line.
Gate Security
Gates can be locked and unlocked to control access to your yard. Right-click your gate and select Set Access to open the security menu, then choose Lock or Unlock.
When a gate is locked, only the owner can use it — the gate automatically unlocks for you as you pass through, then locks again behind you. Other players who try to use a locked gate will be turned away.
Stairs
Stair pieces can be rotated by double-clicking them. Each double-click cycles through four orientations, allowing you to face the stairs in any direction after placement.
Stairs are removed via the right-click context menu refund option rather than double-click, since double-click is used for rotation.
Fountains
Two fountain styles are available — Stone and Sandstone. Fountains are large multi-tile structures that take up a significant amount of space, so plan your placement carefully. They are removed by double-clicking any piece of the fountain for a full refund.
Settings
Click the Settings gear icon in the lower-right corner of the main menu to adjust the X and Y screen position of the Yard & Garden gump. This is useful if the menu overlaps with other windows or if you want it positioned in a specific spot on your screen. Enter integer values and click OK.
Tips
- Plan before you place. Walk around the outside of your house first and visualize your layout. It helps to place paths and borders before filling in plants and trees.
- Trees are multi-tile. They occupy several tiles around the placement point, so leave space between them. If a tree overlaps something, you can double-click it for a refund and try a different spot.
- Use gates with fences. Placing a fence line with a lockable gate creates a private yard that other players cannot easily enter.
- Mix ground tiles. Combine dirt, cobblestone, and grass tiles to create natural-looking paths and garden beds.
- Stairs let you build elevation. Use rotatable stair pieces to create raised platforms, garden terraces, or entrance steps leading up to your house.
- You can place items inside too. The system is not limited to outdoor placement — you can also use it to decorate the interior of your home with plants, ground tiles, and other items.
- Everything refunds at full price. There is no penalty for experimenting. Place items, see how they look, and refund anything you do not like.
