There is no overall skill cap on Banes World. You are free to train every skill to 100 on a single character — there is no total skill point limit forcing you to choose between them. Want to be a Grandmaster swordsman, mage, crafter, and tamer all on one character? Go for it.

Skill Cap Tiers

Skills on Banes World progress through three tiers, each requiring different methods to unlock:

Tier Skill Range How to Unlock
Base 0 – 100 Train normally through use, NPCs, the Britain Library (books train most skills to 75), or the Craft Training Books.
Power Scroll 100 – 120 Consume a Power Scroll to raise the cap for that specific skill to 105, 110, 115, or 120.
BOD Gear 120+ Equip Bulk Order Deed reward gear that grants bonus points above the 120 cap.

Training Resources

Before diving into individual skills, here are the main training tools available on the shard:

Training Books

Found in the Britain Library (under favorites on the portal), the Training Books let you train crafting and other non-combat skills to 75 without spending any resources or producing items. Simply double-click the books, choose a skill, and study. Each study session drains a small amount of HP, Stamina, and Mana as a fatigue cost, and there is a short delay between attempts. This makes it a great way to train Healing at the same time — just bring bandages.

The Training Books support the following skills: Blacksmithing, Carpentry, Tailoring, Alchemy, Inscription, Cooking, Fletching, Cartography, Tinkering, Poisoning, Animal Taming, Stealing, Imbuing, Lockpicking, Remove Trap, Discordance, and Provocation.

Training Rooms

Found under Favorites in the Portal System, the training rooms have practice weapons and elementals for combat skills. Remove your armor before training — it takes durability damage. Bows do not require arrows on the training elementals.

Taming Forest

Tamers can access the Taming Forest through the Portal System. This is a dedicated area stocked with tameable creatures at various difficulty levels, providing a convenient place to grind Animal Taming without hunting all over the world.

Power Scrolls (100 – 120)

To train a skill beyond 100, you must first consume a Power Scroll for that skill. Power Scrolls come in four tiers:

Power Scroll New Cap
105 Power Scroll 105
110 Power Scroll 110
115 Power Scroll 115
120 Power Scroll 120

Power Scrolls are not consumed in order — you can go to a 120 scroll outright. The lower level scrolls are more common than the 120.

Where to Get Power Scrolls

  • Champion Spawns and Bosses — combat and magic power scrolls drop from high-end encounters.
  • Master of Arts — located at the Crossroads in Trammel, this NPC drops crafting power scrolls.
  • Power Scroll Exchange — trade in lower-value scrolls for credits toward higher-value ones.

Training Above 100

Gaining skill points above 100 is significantly harder than the 0–100 grind. You have the best chance for gains when your success rate is around 25–50%. Expect slower progress and plan to invest more time.

BOD Gear (120+)

The hard cap from Power Scrolls is 120. The only way to push a skill above 120 is by equipping Bulk Order Deed (BOD) reward gear — special items earned by completing and turning in Bulk Order Deeds to NPC crafters.

How BOD Gear Differs from Regular +Skill Items

Item Type Effect on Skills
Regular loot items (rings, jewelry, armor with +skill bonuses) Raise a skill up to your current cap only. If your cap is 120 and your skill is 118, a +5 ring will bring you to 120 — not 123. These items will never push a skill over its cap.
BOD reward gear (obtained by turning in Bulk Order Deeds) Does raise skills above the cap. A 120 Blacksmith wearing BOD gear with +skill bonuses can effectively operate at 125 or higher, allowing them to craft special items that would otherwise be impossible.

Skill Training Guides

Below are training recommendations for individual skills. For most skills, start at the Britain Library to reach 75 for free, then use the methods below to push to 100 and beyond. The Craft Training Books also cover many of these skills to 75 if you prefer that route.

Note|You have the best chance for skill gains when your success rate is around 25–50%. If you're succeeding too often, move to something harder. If you're failing constantly, drop back down.

Combat Skills

Archery, Fencing, Mace Fighting, Swordsmanship, Wrestling, Tactics, Parrying, Focus

Visit the Training Room (Portal → Favorites) to train to 100. Remove your armor before training — it takes durability damage. Bows do not require arrows on the training elementals.

Lumberjacking

Arm an axe and fight. This trains Lumberjacking through combat and works all the way to 100.

You can also use the Training Rooms with an axe weapon to train this safely.

Taming & Bard Skills

Animal Taming Skill Guide

This guide covers how to raise Animal Taming from 0 to 145 (the highest range used by any craftable item). The path is split into two phases: book training (0 – 75) and Veterinary Crafting (75+).

0 – 75: Training Books

The fastest and cheapest way to reach 75 Animal Taming is by reading the Animal Taming training books available at the Britain Library. No taming attempts on live creatures are required — simply use the books until you reach 75.0 skill.

75 – 145: Veterinary Crafting

From 75 onward, raise your skill by crafting items from the Veterinary Crafting menu. You will need a Brush (crafted with 50 Tinkering or bought from a player vendor — try [vendorsearch). You can also go to the taming forest and try various animals. Under favorites on the portal.

Pick a recipe whose skill range contains your current skill. Items where your skill sits in the lower portion of the range will give the best gains.

Skill Range Recommended Item Skill Required Ingredients per Craft
75 – 80 Unique Pet Dye (any color) Taming 60 – 80 1 Bottle, 1 Dyes
75 – 80 Pet Greater Heal Potion Taming 60 – 80 1 Bottle, 10 Petrified Wood, 7 Garlic, 5 Spiders Silk
80 – 90 Pet Full Heal Potion Taming 70 – 90 1 Bottle, 15 Petrified Wood, 10 Garlic, 10 Spiders Silk
80 – 95 Pet Dye Tub Taming 80 – 95 10 Barrel Staves, 1 Red + 1 Blue + 1 Green Pet Dye
85 – 100 Shrink Potion Taming 85 – 100 1 Bottle, 10 Spring Water, 5 Petrified Wood
90 – 100 Rare Pet Dye (Ice White / Frost Blue) Taming 80 – 100 1 Bottle, 1 Dyes
100 – 120 Pet Resurrection Potion Taming 100 – 120 1 Bottle, 25 Destroying Angel, 15 Blood Moss
100 – 120 Pet Leash Taming 90 – 120 10 Leather, 25 Iron Ingots
110 – 120 Hitching Post Addon (East or South) Taming 110 – 120 15 Boards, 25 Iron Ingots

Notes

  • The minimum chance of success on any recipe is 50%, so you will gain skill even at the bottom of a range.
  • Many recipes also gain you Animal Lore or Veterinary as a secondary — a nice bonus while training.
  • Rare Pet Dyes (Ice White, Frost Blue) are the cheapest way to push from 80 to 100 if you have plain Dyes on hand.
  • Raising past 100 requires the appropriate Power Scroll to unlock the 105-120 caps.
  • Stockpile Petrified Wood, Spring Water, and Platinum Ingots in advance — they appear repeatedly across the higher-tier recipes.

Animal Lore

Use the Animal Lore skill on creatures repeatedly. The Training Rooms and Taming Forest are both good locations for this. Use on any creature nearby for gains.

Discordance

Skill Range What To Discord Notes
0 – 75 Britain Library / Craft Training Books None
75 – 90 Giant Beetle
90 – 106 Hiryu
106 – 120 Serpentine Dragon or Rotting Corpse

If you hit a wall with no gains, try switching targets. Sometimes alternating between two different creature types can break through gain plateaus.

Provocation

Skill Range What To Provoke Notes
0 – 75 Britain Library / Craft Training Books None
75 – 90 Giant Beetles
90 – 120 Plague Beasts Switch targets if gains stall

Utility Skills

Healing

Use bandages on yourself or other players. The Britain Library books drain HP when used, making it a perfect place to train Healing alongside other skills. At 60 Healing you can attempt to cure poisons, and at 80 you can attempt to resurrect player ghosts. Healing amount is modified by your Anatomy skill.

For AFK training, cast Lich Form (Necromancy) to constantly lose a small amount of HP, then macro bandage self.

Lockpicking

Skill Range What To Do
0 – 75 Britain Library / Craft Training Books
75 – 120 Pick progressively harder locked chests

You can make chests of different degrees of difficulty by using a tinker at various levels to make lockable chests. You can then pick it and relock it and pick it again. These are sometimes sold by players.

Stealing

Skill Range What To Do
0 – 75 Britain Library / Craft Training Books
75 – 100 Practice on NPCs or containers

Imbuing

Skill Range What To Do
0 – 75 Britain Library / Craft Training Books
75 – 120 Imbue items with progressively higher-intensity properties

Remove Trap

Skill Range What To Do
0 – 75 Britain Library / Craft Training Books
75 – 120 Remove traps from locked and trapped containers

Snooping

Accept an escort quest, take the NPC to a quiet location, open their paperdoll, and repeatedly try to open their backpack. Zero to 100 takes less than 2 hours with a 1-second pause between attempts. This will lower your karma.

Quick Reference

Range Requirement Notes
0 – 75 None Britain Library books or Training Room (free, no materials)
75 – 100 None Active training, crafting, or dedicated training areas
100 – 120 Power Scroll One scroll per skill, consumed permanently
120+ BOD Reward Gear Must be equipped, only source that breaks 120
