Gargoyle Tools are three rare specialty tools — the Gargoyle's Knife, Gargoyle's Pickaxe, and Gargoyle's Axe — that drop from various gargoyle creatures. Each tool upgrades the resource it gathers by one tier above what the creature or vein would normally yield. All three tools have limited uses and are consumed when depleted.

If the resource is already at the highest tier, it remains at that tier. Every use has a chance to spawn a hostile Elemental matching the upgraded resource type, adding a risk-versus-reward element to using these tools.
Gargoyle's Knife
The Gargoyle's Knife is used by double-clicking it and targeting a creature's corpse. Instead of yielding the creature's normal hide type, the knife produces hides one tier higher. The knife consumes one use per carve and is destroyed when its last use is spent. In Felucca, the hide amount is doubled as usual.

There is a 20% chance per carve that a Leather Elemental will spawn and attack you. If no elemental appears, a message indicates nothing unusual happened.
Gargoyle's Pickaxe
The Gargoyle's Pickaxe functions as a normal mining tool but automatically upgrades the ore vein by one tier. When you mine with this pickaxe, Iron veins yield Dull Copper ore, Dull Copper veins yield Shadow Iron ore, and so on up the ladder. Platinum veins remain Platinum. The pickaxe consumes one use per swing like any mining tool.

There is a 15% chance per swing that an Ore Elemental matching the upgraded ore type will spawn and attack you. No elemental spawns when mining Iron veins (upgraded to Dull Copper).
Gargoyle's Axe
The Gargoyle's Axe functions as a normal lumberjacking axe but automatically upgrades the wood vein by one tier. When you chop with this axe, Regular trees yield Oak logs, Oak trees yield Ash logs, and so on. Petrified veins remain Petrified. The axe consumes one use per chop like any lumberjacking tool.

Tips
- Gargoyle Tools are best saved for harvesting higher-tier resources. Using a Gargoyle's Pickaxe on a Valorite vein produces Blaze ore, which would otherwise require 100.0+ Mining skill and a Power Scroll to harvest naturally.
- The elemental spawn chance means you should be prepared for a fight, especially when harvesting in remote areas alone.
- In Felucca, the Gargoyle's Knife produces double hides as normal, making it especially valuable for leather farming there.
- The Gargoyle's Pickaxe and Gargoyle's Axe still require sufficient skill to find the base vein — the tool upgrades the result, not your ability to locate the vein.
- The regular Gargoyle is the only creature that can drop both the pickaxe and the axe, making it a versatile farming target.
- All gargoyle tool drops share a uniform 15% rate, so stronger gargoyles are not more likely to drop tools — but they do carry better general loot.
