Treasures of Kotl City is a seasonal dungeon event set in the ancient underground city of the Kotl, located beneath the land of Eodon in the Ter Mur facet. Players explore the ruins, solve puzzles, battle spectral warriors in an escalating combat simulation, and collect Kotl-suffixed artifacts to trade for unique rewards.
Getting There
Kotl City is accessible via a teleporter in Eodon. Once inside, the city is divided into several areas including the main ruins, the Time Room, the Battle Simulation arena, and the lower tunnels containing the Power Core Docking Stations.
Overview
The event revolves around a cycle of exploration, puzzle-solving, and combat. The general flow is:
- Explore the ruins and loot Regal Chests for supplies and Stasis Chamber Power Cores.
- Solve the Switch Puzzle to unlock the door to the Time Room.
- Activate the Wheels of Time to lower the rock barrier and open access to the lower tunnels.
- Insert Power Cores into all eight Docking Stations to activate the Battle Simulator.
- Fight waves of spectral warriors in the city center to earn Kotl-suffixed artifact drops.
- Turn in Kotl artifacts to Hal the Researcher in exchange for reward points.
- Spend points on exclusive decorations, recipes, titles, and equipment.
Regal Chests
Hidden throughout Kotl City are ten Kotl Regal Chests. These locked containers require skill to find and open, and they respawn with fresh loot after being looted.
Finding Chests: Regal Chests are invisible by default. You must reveal them using the Detect Hidden skill. Characters with 80.0 or higher Detect Hidden have a passive chance to spot nearby chests (within 4 tiles), and you can also actively target them with the skill (requires an 80.0–100.0 skill check).
Opening Chests: Once revealed, each chest is locked with a Magic Trap (100 trap power) and requires 90.0 Lockpicking skill to open.
Contents: Each chest contains a random assortment of loot including 800–1,100 gold, 6–12 random gems, and chances at several special items:
| Item | Drop Chance |
|---|---|
| Stasis Chamber Power Core | 10% |
| Card of Semidar (random type) | 10% |
| Inoperative Automaton Head | 25% |
| Kotl-Suffixed Artifact (armor, weapon, or jewelry) | 10% (event must be active) |
| Dr. Spector Journal or History of the Great Work (random volume) | 25% |
Chests refill automatically 10–15 minutes after being looted.
The Switch Puzzle
Near the sealed door to the Time Room, there is a row of ten switches. The puzzle generates a randomized sequence of 5–10 switches that must be activated in the correct order.
Solving the Puzzle:
- Stand within 2 tiles of a switch and double-click it.
- If the switch is correct in the sequence, it deactivates and you see the message: "You activate the switch!"
- If the switch is wrong, you are electrocuted for 100–150 energy damage and receive a warning.
- After more than 5 consecutive wrong guesses, the puzzle has an increasing chance to fully reset with a new sequence.
- Successfully completing the full sequence unlocks the Kotl Door to the Time Room for 5 minutes, after which the door re-seals and the puzzle resets.
Tip: The puzzle is a process of elimination. Bring plenty of healing and energy resistance, and work through the switches methodically.
The Wheels of Time
Inside the Time Room you will find the Wheels of Time. Double-clicking the Wheels activates a 2-hour time warp that lowers the rock barrier blocking access to the lower tunnels and the Power Core Docking Stations.
The Wheels can only be activated once per cycle — if the time warp is already running, you will be told that the wheels have already been set in motion. When the 2-hour window expires, the rock barrier rises again and any active Battle Simulation ends.
Power Core Docking Stations
In the lower tunnels beyond the rock barrier, there are eight Power Core Docking Stations. Each station accepts a single Stasis Chamber Power Core (found in Regal Chests). Drop a Power Core into a station's container to activate it.
Important: All eight stations must be powered to trigger the Battle Simulator. Coordinate with other players or stockpile Power Cores in advance. Once activated, the stations remain powered until the simulation ends, at which point all cores are consumed and the stations deactivate.
The Battle Simulator
Once all eight Docking Stations are activated, the Kotl City Battle Simulator begins. A message broadcasts to all players in the area: "Great Battle simulation now active! Proceed to city center!"
How It Works
The simulation spawns waves of Spectral Kotl Warriors and Spectral Myrmidex Warriors throughout the city center. The battle progresses through 7 levels of increasing difficulty, with a maximum duration of 60 minutes.
| Level | Spawns per Wave | Kills to Advance |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | 10 | 20 |
| 1 | 12 | 22 |
| 2 | 14 | 24 |
| 3 | 16 | 26 |
| 4 | 18 | 28 |
| 5 | 20 | 30 |
| 6 | 22 | 32 |
| 7 (Final) | 24 | 34 |
Each new level adds 2 more simultaneous spawns and requires 2 additional kills to advance. Reaching the kill threshold on the final level (or running out the 60-minute timer) ends the simulation. The rock barrier is restored and the Docking Stations reset.
The Spectral Warriors
Both Spectral Kotl Warriors and Spectral Myrmidex Warriors share similar stats but come in two variants: weak and strong. Which variant spawns depends on the terrain at the spawn point.
| Stat | Weak Variant | Strong Variant |
|---|---|---|
| Hit Points | 1,200 – 1,400 | 330 – 360 |
| Strength | 500 – 600 | 500 – 600 |
| Dexterity | 82 – 95 | 82 – 95 |
| Intelligence | 130 – 140 | 130 – 140 |
| Damage | 18 – 22 | 18 – 22 |
| Physical Resist | 1 – 10% | 40 – 50% |
| Fire Resist | 1 – 10% | 30 – 40% |
| Cold Resist | 1 – 10% | 30 – 40% |
| Poison Resist | 8 – 10% | 90 – 100% |
| Energy Resist | 5 – 10% | 80 – 90% |
Both variants deal 50% Physical / 50% Poison damage and inflict Deadly Poison on hit. They are immune to Deadly Poison themselves. They use Magery-based AI, possess Wrestling, Tactics, Magic Resist, Poisoning, Magery, and Eval Int skills, and drop Rich-level loot.
Note: The weak variant has very high HP but almost no resistances, making it easy to damage but time-consuming to kill. The strong variant has low HP but extremely high resistances — you will need to overcome heavy resists to deal meaningful damage.
The two spectral factions also fight each other, so positioning yourself near their skirmishes can be an effective tactic.
Also found in the area are Desiccated Myrmidex Larvae, weaker creatures with 446–588 HP and Lesser Poison.
Energy Tiles
Several corridors in Kotl City are lined with Energy Tiles — glowing floor panels that deal 100–150 pure energy damage when stepped on. These affect both players and their pets.
One tile in each row is randomly deactivated (safe to walk on) and this safe tile shifts every 2 hours. Watch the floor carefully before crossing — the inactive tile appears visually different. High Energy Resistance gear is strongly recommended when navigating these areas.
Earning Artifacts
Killing creatures inside Kotl City while the event is active builds up hidden Dungeon Points. Your points accumulate with each kill based on the slain creature's Fame (divided by 2), modified by your Luck stat. Creatures spawned by the Battle Simulator grant 4× the normal fame value, making the simulation by far the best way to earn artifacts.
As your Dungeon Points accumulate, you gain an increasing chance for a Kotl-suffixed artifact to drop — a random piece of armor, weapon, shield, or jewelry reforged with the Kotl suffix. When an artifact drops, your Dungeon Points reset and the cycle begins again.
Artifacts are placed in your backpack, or your bank if your pack is full. You will hear a distinctive sound and see the message: "For your valor in combating the fallen beast, a special artifact has been bestowed on you."
Hal the Researcher
Hal the Researcher is located near the entrance to Kotl City. He serves as the event's turn-in NPC and reward vendor.
Turning In Artifacts: Speak to Hal and select the turn-in option. You can turn in any piece of equipment bearing the Kotl reforged suffix. Each artifact turned in awards 1 reward point. The artifact is consumed in the process.
Claiming Rewards: Speak to Hal and browse his reward menu to spend your accumulated points.

Lore
Scattered throughout the Regal Chests are two series of collectible journals that tell the story of Kotl City:
The Journal of Dr. Spector (4 volumes) chronicles the researcher's exploration of Eodon and its tribes — the Barako, Urali, Sakkhra, Barrab, Kurak, and Jukari — and his eventual discovery of the Kotl ruins beneath a great pyramid. His contact with a mysterious crystal transformed him into something inhuman, and he ultimately sealed himself in a stasis chamber.
History of the Great Work (4 volumes) recounts the history of the Kotl civilization as spoken by the Memory of Katalkotl: their origin on the destroyed world of Akaktolan, their creation of Eodon using the Great Moonstone, their construction of golden automatons, the failed experiment that created the Myrmidex, their enslavement of humans from other worlds, and the ultimate fall of Kotl civilization when the Myrmidex stole the Great Moonstone and destroyed the city.
Tips
- Stock up on Power Cores from Regal Chests before attempting the Battle Simulator. You need eight, one per station.
- Energy Resistance is critical — the puzzle, energy tiles, and corridor traps all deal energy damage. Aim for high Energy Resist on your suit.
- Bring Cure Potions or Greater Cure spells. The spectral warriors inflict Deadly Poison.
- Luck matters. Higher Luck increases both the rate of artifact drops and the quality of loot from chests and kills.
- Battle Simulator kills are worth 4× fame for artifact drop calculations, making the simulation the most efficient way to farm artifacts.
- Coordinate with other players — the puzzle door only stays open for 5 minutes, the time warp lasts 2 hours, and you need to power all 8 stations. Working as a group makes the event much smoother.
- Collect the journals — beyond being interesting lore, they make great additions to your home library.
