Gladiator Event
The Gladiator Arena is a GM-triggered PvE wave survival event where up to 10 players battle through 10 increasingly difficult waves of enemies, culminating in an epic multi-phase final boss. The event is launched at random by a Game Master — there is no schedule, so keep your gear ready!
How It Works
Getting In
When a GM triggers the event, a server-wide broadcast announces that the Gladiator Arena has opened:
*** The Gladiator Arena has opened! Seek the arena gate in Mainstreet to prove your worth! ***
A glowing Gladiator Arena Gate appears on Mainstreet in Madon. You have 10 minutes to walk over or double-click the gate to register. Countdown reminders are broadcast every minute, with final warnings at 30 and 10 seconds.
- You stay on Mainstreet during the recruiting period — you are not teleported to the arena until the event begins.
- A status gump opens automatically when you register, showing the countdown, current player count, and wave preview.
- Maximum of 10 players per event.
If nobody enters within the 10-minute window, the event is cancelled.
The Arena
Once the timer expires, all registered players are teleported into the arena in Malas. The arena is a confined combat zone with strict rules:
- No PvP — players cannot harm each other inside the arena.
- No Recall/Gate — magical travel is blocked. You cannot recall, gate, or mark inside the arena.
- Pets are welcome — your pets and mounts teleport with you and can fight alongside you.
Death & Revival
If you die during a wave, you are automatically resurrected after 3 seconds, healed to full, and moved to the edge of the arena to spectate until the current wave ends. You are briefly frozen to prevent disorientation, then unfrozen.
Between waves, all players (alive or recently fallen) are fully healed, resurrected, and moved back into the center of the arena for the next wave.
If all participants die simultaneously during a wave, the event ends in defeat.
Leaving Early
You can leave the arena at any time using the LEAVE ARENA button on the status gump. A confirmation dialog will appear — if you leave, you forfeit any remaining rewards. If all players leave, the event ends.
Waves
The arena features 10 waves of escalating difficulty, including two boss encounters. Enemy counts scale based on how many players are in the event.
Player Scaling
| Players | Spawn Multiplier |
|---|---|
| 1 | 1.0× (base) |
| 2–3 | 1.5× |
| 4–5 | 2.0× |
| 6–7 | 2.5× |
| 8–10 | 3.0× |
Boss waves (Waves 5 and 10) always spawn exactly 1 boss regardless of player count.
Wave Breakdown
| Wave | Name | Enemies (Base Count) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The Risen Dead | Skeletons (18), Zombies (12) | Warm-up wave. High numbers but weak individually. |
| 2 | Knights of the Grave | Bone Knights (8), Skeletal Knights (6), Wraiths (4) | Tougher undead with better armor and magic resistance. |
| 3 | Elemental Fury | Fire Elementals (6), Water Elementals (6), Earth Elementals (4), Blood Elementals (4) | Mixed damage types. Blood Elementals hit hard — prioritize them. |
| 4 | Demonic Vanguard | Daemons (6), Imps (10), Gargoyles (6) | Magic-heavy wave. Bring resist gear. |
| 5 | The Pit Fiend [BOSS] | 1 Pit Fiend | See Boss Guide below. |
| 6 | Dragon Brood | Drakes (8), Wyverns (6) | High physical damage. Tanky enemies. |
| 7 | The Lich Council | Liches (6), Lich Lords (4), Bone Magi (8) | Extremely magic-heavy. Curse and poison spam. |
| 8 | Wyrm Assault | Dragons (4), Greater Dragons (2), Drakes (6) | The toughest non-boss wave. Greater Dragons are devastating. |
| 9 | Legion of the Abyss | Balrons (4), Daemons (6), Abysmal Horrors (2) | Endgame-tier enemies. Burn them down fast. |
| 10 | The Arena Champion [BOSS] | 1 Arena Champion | See Boss Guide below. |
Rest Periods
After clearing a wave, there is a 20-second rest period before the next wave begins. During this time all living players are fully healed (HP, Mana, and Stamina restored). Use this time to rebuff and reposition.
Boss Guide
Wave 5 — The Pit Fiend
A massive demonic brute with 30,000 HP. The Pit Fiend is melee-focused but has several dangerous special abilities.
Key Stats:
- 30,000 Hit Points
- 28–38 base damage (Physical/Fire/Energy)
- Immune to poison, barding, and provocation
- Auto-dispels summons
- Cannot flee
Abilities:
| Ability | Description | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Ground Slam | AoE physical damage in a 6-tile radius. Briefly freezes (staggers) all players hit for 1.5 seconds. | Spread out! Don't cluster around the boss. Melee fighters should be ready to eat this. |
| Charge | Teleports to a distant target (3–12 tiles away) with a fire explosion on landing. Primary target takes 50–70 damage; splash damage hits nearby players. | Keep moving. If you're at range and see the charge emote, dodge sideways. |
| Fire Breath | Directional cone of fire (8-tile range). | Watch for the emote ("exhales a torrent of hellfire") and move out of the cone. |
| Summon Imps | Summons 4 Imps when below 50% HP. Imps despawn after 60 seconds. | Cleave the imps down quickly or ignore them and burn the boss. |
Enrage Phase (below 30% HP):
The Pit Fiend enters a berserk rage — its hue changes to bright red, its damage increases to 35–50, and all abilities have shorter cooldowns. Push through this phase as fast as possible.
Wave 10 — The Arena Champion
The final boss is a multi-phase humanoid champion with 60,000 HP and three distinct combat styles. This is the hardest fight on the shard.
Key Stats:
- 60,000 Hit Points
- 30–42 base damage (mixed Physical/Fire/Energy/Cold)
- Immune to poison, barding, and provocation
- Auto-dispels summons
- Cannot flee
Phase 1 — Warrior (100%–60% HP)
The Champion appears in shining plate armor with a Viking sword and kite shield.
| Ability | Description |
|---|---|
| Whirlwind | AoE physical damage (4-tile radius, 30–45 damage). |
| Shield Bash | Single-target stun (3 seconds) dealing 40–60 damage. Must be within 2 tiles. |
Strategy: Standard tank-and-spank. Avoid clustering for Whirlwind. Healers watch for Shield Bash stuns on the tank.
Phase 2 — Caster (60%–30% HP)
At 60% HP the Champion sheds his armor, dons purple robes, and shifts to pure magical damage.
| Ability | Description |
|---|---|
| Energy Storm | Targeted AoE energy explosion (5-tile radius) centered on a random player. |
| Necrotic Wave | Directional cone of poison damage (8 tiles). Applies Greater Poison. |
| Void Pulse | AoE life drain (8-tile radius). Drains HP from all nearby players and heals the boss for the total amount drained. |
Strategy: Spread out to limit Energy Storm splash. Cure poison immediately after Necrotic Wave. Void Pulse is the most dangerous ability — when you see "Your life force sustains me!" get out of the 8-tile radius or the boss will heal massively.
Phase 3 — Berserker (below 30% HP)
The Champion transforms again into bone armor with a halberd, glowing burning red. All abilities come off shorter cooldowns and the boss gains new powers.
| Ability | Description |
|---|---|
| All Previous Abilities | Whirlwind, Energy Storm, Dark Eruption, and Necrotic Wave are all available and rotate randomly. |
| Abyssal Pull | Teleports to the farthest player, then yanks all players toward the arena center with an energy implosion. Deals 20–35 energy damage. |
| Dark Eruption | Massive fire + earth AoE (7-tile radius) that freezes for 2 seconds and deals 45–65 damage. |
| Summon Guardians | Summons 3 undead guardians (Skeletal Knights, Bone Knights, Liches) every 45 seconds. Guardians despawn after 45 seconds. |
Strategy: This is a DPS race. The boss uses all ability types with faster cooldowns and summons adds. Focus all damage on the Champion and ignore guardians if possible. Abyssal Pull punishes players who try to kite at the edges — stay mobile but don't run to the far walls.

- LEAVE ARENA — Opens a confirmation dialog to leave the event early
- REFRESH — Manually refreshes the gump with current data
The gump also refreshes automatically at key moments (wave transitions, countdown milestones, etc.).
Tips & Strategy
- Bring a balanced group. A mix of melee fighters, tamers, and mage healers works best. Pure mage groups struggle with later waves' magic resistance.
- Pets are powerful here. Greater Dragons and Cu Sidhes can soak enormous amounts of damage, especially on boss waves.
- Resist gear matters. Waves 4, 7, and 9 are magic-heavy. High energy and poison resist will save your life.
- Don't panic on death. You auto-resurrect and rejoin next wave. A death isn't the end — only a total wipe ends the event.
- Wave 8 is the wall. Greater Dragons and regular Dragons together are often harder than the bosses for unprepared groups. Crowd control and focus fire are essential.
- Boss Phase 2 Void Pulse is the biggest threat. If the Arena Champion heals back thousands of HP via Void Pulse, the fight drags on dangerously. Spread out and run when you see the drain emote.
- Wave 5 Pit Fiend enrage is a DPS check. Save your biggest cooldowns and potions for when he drops below 30%.
