Halloween Chests are special holiday chests that spawn in Halloween Town and in both of the Halloween dungeons. They are locked, and every one of them is rigged with a magic trap — so think carefully before you pick one up.

Chests appear in one of three visual styles, but all three open the same way and carry the same loot [4].

What's Inside

Every Halloween Chest is packed with the same guaranteed holiday loot:

Item Quantity
Gold 1,800–2,400
Halloween Token 1
Pumpkin Bread 5
Pumpkin Cake 1
Pumpkin Cookies 1
Pumpkin Carving Kit 1
Carvable Plain Pumpkin 1

On top of that, each chest always contains two different gems, with 2–4 of each type [4]:

Blue Diamond Dark Sapphire Ecru Citrine Fire Ruby
Perfect Emerald Turquoise White Pearl Brilliant Amber

Finally, there is a 50% chance the chest also holds a small stack (1–8) of a single random reagent [4].

Lockpicking & Traps

Property Value
Required Skill 44 Lockpicking
Lock Level 35–43
Max Lock Level 44
Trap Magic Trap, power 3–72
  • A character with 44+ Lockpicking will open these reliably; expect failed attempts (and possibly trap damage) below that.
  • The trap can fire when the chest is disturbed — the safest play is to pick the lock in place rather than carrying the chest around.
  • If you don't have the lockpicking skill, bring a thief friend along instead of leaving the chest for another player.

Halloween Tokens & Jack

Each chest drops exactly one Halloween Token — and tokens are the currency of Halloween Town's vendor, Jack. Trade tokens to him to purchase his holiday wares.

Tips

  • Carvers: every chest drops a Pumpkin Carving Kit [4], so you can restock your carving tool on the same trip — pair it with the patch in town for Pumpkin Carving.
  • Five pumpkin breads plus a cake and cookies is an easy snack stash for dungeon runs.
  • The gems and 1,800–2,400 gold make each chest a tidy sellable haul even if you never use the token.
  • Chests respawn — if you clear out the dungeon, check back later.
  • The tokens are only useful at Jack; don't hoard them expecting to spend them elsewhere.
