Housing Gates
House Gates
Overview
House Gates are a custom teleportation system on Banes World that lets homeowners link their house directly to a public gate hub. Once set up, any player can step through your gate tile at the hub and teleport straight to your house — and a matching gate at your house teleports visitors back. This is a great way to make your home accessible for shopping at your player vendors, visiting your property, or just showing off your decorating skills.
Each account is allowed one House Gate.
How It Works
The House Gate system uses paired moongates: a Gate Tile at the public hub and a House Gate placed at your home. When a player steps on your gate tile at the hub, they are teleported to the gate at your house. The gate at your house sends them back to the hub. The two gates stay linked and synchronized — if you rename or recolor one, the other updates to match.
Accessing the Gate Hub
To reach the House Gate hub, find the closest Portal and select Favorites. The gate hub is a public area where all active House Gates are displayed as labeled moongates. Each gate shows the name of the homeowner (or a custom name if one has been set). Vacant gate tiles that are not yet claimed will display as "Vacant House Gate."
Setting Up Your House Gate
Step 1: Find a Vacant Gate Tile
Travel to the gate hub through the Portal under Favorites. Look for a gate tile labeled "Vacant House Gate" — these are unclaimed spots available for purchase.
Step 2: Purchase the Gate
Double-click the vacant gate tile. A confirmation dialog will appear telling you the cost: 200,000 gold. The gold is withdrawn from your bank account. Before clicking OK, make sure you are ready to proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Go to Your House
After the confirmation dialog appears, travel to your house. You must be standing inside a house that you own. Once you are inside your house, click OK on the confirmation dialog. The gate will be summoned and placed at your house's ban location (the front step area).
Step 4: Done
Your House Gate is now active. A gate appears at your house linking back to the hub, and the gate tile at the hub now displays your character's name and links to your house. Any player can use either gate to travel between the hub and your home.
An information notice will appear reminding you of the gate rules and how to customize it.
Managing Your House Gate
Single-click the gate at your house to open a context menu with the following options:
Movement (Reposition)
Select Movement to move the gate to a different location. You will be prompted to target a new spot. The gate can only be placed within 5 tiles of the front of your house — you cannot move it deep inside your home or far away from the building. The target location must also have room for the gate to fit.
Set Hue (Recolor)
Select Set Hue to change the color of your gate. This requires a Gate Hue Ticket in your backpack. When prompted, enter a hue number between 1 and 2999. The gate (and its matching tile at the hub) will both update to the new color. One ticket is consumed per color change.
Gate Hue Tickets can be obtained from the Token Vendor in Main Street. To make it easy take a trip to the Hue Room. It is on the portal system under favorites. Pick a favorite color and write down the hue number.
Rename
Select Rename to give your gate a custom name. By default, the gate displays your character's name. You can change it to anything you like — for example, the name of your shop, your guild tag, or a fun label. The matching gate tile at the hub updates to show the same name, so other players can identify your gate easily.
Remove
Select Remove to permanently delete your house gate. A confirmation dialog will appear since this action cannot be undone. Removing the gate frees up the tile at the hub, making it available for another player to claim. You will not receive a refund.
Important Rules
- Do not block gates. You must make sure the gate can be used from both sides by any player. Placing obstacles, walls, or locked doors that would trap players on either side of the gate is not allowed. Gates found in violation will be removed without warning or refund.
- One gate per account. Each account is limited to one House Gate. If you already own a gate and try to claim another vacant tile, you will be told you already own too many.
- Gate follows the house. If your house is demolished or deleted, the gate is automatically removed as well.
- Owners only. Only the house owner can reposition, recolor, rename, or remove the gate. Co-owners and friends cannot modify it.
Tips
- Name your gate after your shop if you run a player vendor. Players browsing the hub will see your custom name and know what you are selling before they even step through.
- Pick a distinctive hue to make your gate stand out in the hub. A bright or unique color helps returning customers find you quickly.
- Position the gate near your vendors — After placing, use the Movement option to reposition it close to your vendor area so visitors land right where they need to be. Just remember it must stay within 5 tiles of the house front.
- The hub is a great advertising tool — Every player who visits the gate hub sees your gate's name. A well-named gate like "Rare Runics & Resources" or "Full Spellbook Shop" draws more traffic than a generic character name.
