Vendor Portals

Vendor Portals let you advertise your shop across all of Banes World. When you purchase a portal, your shop is listed under the Vendors category in every World Omniporter and World Travel Atlas (Book of Travel) on the shard. Any player can then select your shop from the list and teleport directly to a gate placed inside your house.

A purchased portal also places a physical gate inside your home — a glowing green moongate that visitors arrive at, and which your customers can use to open the full travel network themselves.

Requirements

Before purchasing a vendor portal, make sure:

  • You own the house where the portal will be placed.
  • The house is set to public. Private houses cannot host a vendor portal.
  • You have at least 100,000 gold in your bank box. The fee is withdrawn from the bank, not your backpack.
  • You have fewer than 3 active vendor portals on your account.

Important restrictions while a portal is active:

  • Your house cannot be set to private. Doing so will remove the portal.
  • Your house cannot be customized (for customizable houses) while the portal is active.
  • The portal cannot be placed on the border of two joined or adjacent houses. You must target a location clearly inside your own house, away from shared walls.

How to Purchase a Portal

  1. Type the command [VendorPortal anywhere in the world.
  2. The Vendor Portal System window opens. Review the cost, duration, and requirements.
  3. Click Purchase New Portal.
  4. Enter a name for your portal (up to 40 characters). This is the name other players will see in the travel lists, so make it descriptive — for example, "Smith's Rare Reagents" or "The Armory at Britain".
  5. Click Confirm Purchase.
  6. You will be asked to target a location. Click a spot inside your public house where you want the gate to appear.
  7. If the location is valid, 100,000 gold is withdrawn from your bank, the gate is placed, and your shop immediately appears in the Vendors list everywhere on the shard.

Choosing a Good Gate Location

  • Place the gate somewhere central and open inside your house so arriving customers land in a sensible spot near your wares.
  • Avoid corners, walls, and the edges of your house. If the system detects the tile is shared with an adjacent house, the purchase is cancelled (and no gold is taken).
  • Remember: visitors teleport to wherever you place the gate. Put it where you want shoppers to appear.

Using the Portal

For Shop Owners

Once placed, the green Vendor Portal gate sits inside your house. Anyone — including you — can double-click it or walk onto it to open the World Travel Atlas and travel anywhere on the network. It functions as a free, full-featured travel hub right in your shop.

For Visitors

Any player can reach your shop by:

  1. Opening any World Omniporter (the moongates found at town exits) or using a World Travel Atlas book.
  2. Selecting the green Vendors category.
  3. Choosing your shop's name from the list.

They will be teleported to the gate inside your house. Note: visitors must have permission to be in the area; if your house security blocks them, they may be placed just outside at the house sign.

Renewing a Portal

Vendor portals last one week. You can renew at any time before or after expiration:

Option 1 — From the purchase window:

  1. Type [VendorPortal.
  2. Your active portals are listed under Your Active Portals, each showing the time remaining.
  3. Click the green Renew button next to the portal you want to extend.
  4. Confirm the renewal (100,000 gold). Renewing before expiration adds a week to the existing time; renewing after adds a week from the current moment.

Option 2 — From the gate location:

  1. Begin a purchase and target a spot inside a house that already has an active portal.
  2. The Renew or Cancel window opens automatically.

Cancelling a Portal

To cancel a portal early:

  1. Open the Renew or Cancel window (see Renewing a Portal above).
  2. Click Cancel Portal.

No refund is given for cancelled portals. Cancelling immediately removes the gate from your house and delists your shop from the travel network.

Automatic Removal

Your portal will be removed automatically if any of the following happen:

  • The 1-week duration expires (you'll receive a message).
  • Your house is set to private.
  • Your house is demolished or decays.

When a portal is removed for any reason, the gate disappears and your shop is delisted from all travel menus.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I move the gate after placing it?
No. To relocate the gate, cancel the portal and purchase a new one at the desired location. (No refund is given for the cancelled portal.)
What happens to my portal if the server restarts?
Active portals persist through restarts. Your listing and gate are saved automatically.
Can other players cancel or renew my portal?
No. Only you (the purchasing character) or a current owner of the house can manage the portal.
Can I have more than one portal?
Yes — up to 3 active portals per account, each in a different public house.
Does the gate cost anything for visitors to use?
No. The gate is free for anyone to use as a travel hub.
My house is public but the purchase keeps cancelling. Why?
You are likely targeting a tile too close to a wall or shared with an adjacent house. Target a spot clearly inside the center of your house.
