Monster Contract System

Overview

The Monster Contract System lets you earn gold by hunting specific creatures across the world. Speak with Joseph the Monster Killer on Main Street next to the portal to receive a randomly generated contract, then hunt the required creatures and claim your gold reward.

Contracts are blessed — they cannot be lost to death — and can be stored in a Monster Contract Book to keep your backpack organized.

Getting Started

Step 1 — Get a Contract

Right-click Joseph the Monster Killer and select the context menu option. A Monster Contract deed is placed directly in your backpack and a greeting gump appears explaining the system.

tip|You can only receive one contract per hour from Joseph. Plan accordingly and make sure you're ready to hunt before requesting one.

Step 2 — Read Your Contract

Double-click the contract in your backpack to open it. The contract gump shows:

  • Contract For — the creature type and quantity required
  • Quantity Killed — your current progress
  • Reward — the gold bank check you will receive upon completion

Step 3 — Hunt the Creatures

Go find and kill the required creature type. When a qualifying creature dies, open the contract gump and click the Corpse button, then target the corpse to claim the kill.

Corpse claiming rules:

  • You must have been the one who killed the creature, OR
  • The killing blow was dealt by your summoned or tamed creature.
  • Profaned (channeled) corpses cannot be claimed.
  • Corpses killed by other players cannot be claimed.
  • The corpse must match the creature type on your contract exactly.

Step 4 — Claim Your Reward

Once the kill count reaches the required amount, open the contract gump and click the Reward button. Your gold reward is deposited directly into your bank box as a Bank Check.

Contract Creatures & Rewards

Contracts are randomly assigned from the following creature pool. Rarer creatures appear less frequently but carry higher reward potential. The gold reward also scales with the number of kills required.

How Rewards Are Calculated

The gold reward on a contract is determined at creation time using the creature's rarity rating and a random scalar:

Reward = (Rarity × (Rarity / 2) × Scalar) × KillCount

The scalar is always at least 0.6, meaning higher-rarity creatures pay significantly more per kill. A Dragon contract (rarity 80) requiring 10 kills will always pay substantially more than a Scorpion contract (rarity 10) of the same size.

Kill counts range from 5 to 14 per contract, randomized at creation.

Monster Contract Book

If you collect multiple contracts over time, a Monster Contract Book can hold up to 500 contracts in a single item, keeping your backpack tidy. The book can be purchased on the Token Vendor in Mainstreet near Joseph for 25k tokens.

Adding Contracts to the Book

There are two ways to add contracts:

  • Drag and drop a contract deed directly onto the book.
  • Right-click the book and select Fill from Pack to automatically
sweep all contracts from your entire backpack and any containers within it
into the book in one action.

Using the Book

Double-click the book to open the Contract Book gump, which displays all stored contracts in a sortable, searchable list.

Column Description
Contract Target The creature type required
Killed Your current kill count for that contract
Goal The total kills needed
Reward The gold payout upon completion
Add Corpse Click to target a corpse and claim a kill for that contract
Remove Removes the contract from the book and returns it to your backpack

Sorting & Filtering

  • Click the Contract Target, Killed, or Reward column headers
to sort by that column. Click again to reverse the sort direction.
  • Use the Search box and click Go to filter contracts by creature
name. Click Clr to clear the filter.
  • Use the page arrows to navigate if you have more than 12 contracts.

tip|Completed contracts (kill count met) display in green in the book so you can instantly spot which ones are ready to cash out. Simply remove them from the book and double-click to claim the reward.

Claiming Rewards from Book Contracts

The book's Add Corpse button works the same as the individual contract gump — click it, then target the corpse of the matching creature. Progress saves directly inside the book entry.

To collect the gold reward on a completed book entry, use the Remove button to pull the contract back into your backpack, then double-click it and click Reward.

Tips & Strategies

  • One contract per hour — plan your hunts around the cooldown. If you're
heading to a dungeon anyway, grab a contract first and you may be hunting the
 right creature already.
  • Tamed pets count — kills made by your controlled or summoned creatures
are valid for corpse claiming, making this system very tamer-friendly.
  • Stack your book — collect contracts over multiple days and batch-hunt
when you have time. The book holds 500 contracts and they never expire.
  • Target high-rarity contracts — Dragon, Daemon, Ancient Lich, and Skeletal
Dragon contracts pay dramatically more than common creature contracts. If you
get a Scorpion contract and don't need the gold urgently, consider saving your
hour cooldown for a better roll next time.
  • Pets and summons kill the mob, you claim the corpse — your pet doesn't
need to be listed as the killer; as long as it's your controlled or summoned
 creature, the corpse is valid.
  • Keep the book in your backpack — the Fill from Pack option and the Add
Corpse button only work when the book is on your person.
