Overview
Pillow Crafting is a tailoring-based crafting system that allows players to create decorative pillows for their homes. Using a special Pillow Sewing Kit and materials like Cloth, Cotton, Wool, and Feathers, tailors can produce a variety of pillow styles — from simple bedroom cushions to novelty throwing pillows.
The Pillow Crafter NPC is located in Darnassian, in the vendor area of the Tamer's Gauntlet.
Getting Started
What You Need
- Pillow Sewing Kit — required tool for all pillow recipes; purchase it from
the Pillow Crafter NPC for 1,500 gold.
- Tailoring skill — a minimum skill level is required; higher skill reduces
failure chance.
- Materials — Cloth, Cotton, Wool, or Feathers depending on the recipe
(see Recipes below).

Crafting
To craft a pillow:
- Equip or have the Pillow Sewing Kit in your backpack.
- Double-click the kit to open the Pillow Crafting Menu.
- Select the pillow you wish to make from the list.
- Ensure you have the required materials in your backpack.
Skill Requirements
All pillow recipes share the same skill window:

Above 31.2 Tailoring you will always succeed. Below 6.2 you cannot attempt the recipe. The minimum success chance at the lowest skill level is 50%, so even new tailors have a reasonable shot.

These pillows require Cloth as the primary material and Cotton as a secondary resource.

These pillows use alternative materials and have unique properties.

- Tagged Pillow — a decorative pillow with a wool-stuffed finish.
- Throwing Pillow — feather-stuffed; as the name implies, it can be thrown.
Stock up on Feathers before attempting these.
Selling Pillows Back
The Pillow Crafter NPC will not buy finished pillows back from you — only raw tailoring materials are accepted on the sell list (Scissors, Dyes, Dye Tub, Cloth, Yarn). Pillows are purely decorative items intended for player housing.
Tips & Strategies
- Skill requirement is very low — even a fresh character with minimal
Tailoring can craft pillows. This makes it an accessible decorating option for any player.
- Stock up on Cotton — it's used in almost every standard recipe and is not
sold by the NPC. Keep a good supply from farming or trading.
- Feathers are the bottleneck for Throwing Pillows at 20 per craft — hunt
birds or buy from other players before attempting a bulk run.
- Dye your pillows — Dyes and Dye Tubs are sold right at the NPC, making it
easy to color-coordinate pillows with your home décor.
- Exceptional quality is possible — a Maker's Mark can be affixed to
exceptional pillows, making them a unique personal touch for your house.
