Carpet Weaving
Overview
Carpet Weaving is a Tailoring-based crafting system that allows players to create decorative rugs and carpet runners for their homes. Using a Weaver's Spool and a combination of Wool, Dyes, and Flax, skilled tailors can produce a wide variety of colored rugs and hall runners in several styles.
The Carpet Weaver NPC is located on Main Street, between the bank and the tailor shop.
Getting Started
What You Need
- Weaver's Spool — the required crafting tool; purchase from the Carpet
Weaver NPC for 1,500 gold.
- Tailoring skill — all recipes require a minimum of 105.0 Tailoring.
At minimum skill the success chance is 50%, and the craft window tops out between 125.0 and 130.5 depending on the recipe.
- Materials — every recipe requires Wool, Dyes, and Flax
(see Recipes below).
Skill Requirements Overview
| Recipe Tier | Min Skill | Guaranteed Success |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Rugs & Runners | 105.0 | 125.0 |
| Plain / Fancy Rugs | 107.0 – 110.2 | 127.0 – 130.0 |
| Decorative / Artisan Rugs | 115.0 | 130.5 |
At exactly 105.0 Tailoring you have a 50% chance on standard recipes. Pushing toward 115.0+ before attempting Decorative or Artisan rugs will save you significant materials.
Sourcing Materials
The Carpet Weaver NPC sells Dyes (8 gp) and Weaver's Spools (1,500 gp). Wool and Flax are not sold at this vendor — you must gather or buy them elsewhere:
- Wool — sheared from sheep; available from the House Animal System
or traded from other players. The Carpet Weaver will buy Wool from you for 31 gp each.
- Flax — harvested from flax plants in the world. The Carpet Weaver
will buy Flax from you for 51 gp each.
How to Craft
- Purchase a Weaver's Spool from the Carpet Weaver NPC.
- Gather your Wool, Dyes, and Flax.
- Double-click the Weaver's Spool to open the Weaving crafting menu.
- Select the rug or runner you wish to create.
- On success, you receive a deed for the floor covering which can be
placed in your house.
Exceptional quality rugs are possible and can have a Maker's Mark applied.
Recipes
Rugs
All rug recipes require 24 Wool, 6 Dyes, and 1 Flax.

| Blue Decorative Rug | 115.0 | 130.5 |
Red Rugs

|---|---|---|
| Red Rug | 105.0 | 125.0 |
| Red Plain Rug | 107.0 | 127.0 |
Cinnamon Rugs
| Item | Min Skill | Max Skill |
|---|---|---|
| Large Cinnamon Rug | 105.0 | 125.0 |
| Cinnamon Fancy Rug | 110.2 | 130.0 |

Runners
Runners are narrower hall-style carpets available in two orientations: N/S (North/South) and E/W (East/West). All runner recipes require 12 Wool, 4 Dyes, and 1 Flax — half the wool and dyes of a full rug.
All runners share the same skill window: 105.0 minimum, 125.0 guaranteed.
| Color | N/S | E/W |
|---|---|---|
| Blue | Blue Runner N/S | Blue Runner E/W |
| Red | Red Runner N/S | Red Runner E/W |
| Golden | Golden Runner N/S | Golden Runner E/W |
| Cinnamon | Cinnamon Runner N/S | Cinnamon Runner E/W |
Runners use half the materials of full rugs at the same skill requirement. They make excellent practice items for building Tailoring skill while producing useful house decorations
Material Cost Per Attempt
| Recipe Type | Wool | Dyes | Flax | Approx. Dye Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Full Rug | 24 | 6 | 1 | 48 gp |
| Runner | 12 | 4 | 1 | 32 gp |
Wool and Flax costs vary by source. Weaver's Spool wear not included.
Tips & Strategies
- Start with runners — they use fewer materials (12 Wool vs 24) and all
share the same 105.0 minimum skill, making them the most efficient way to build skill and decorate at the same time.
- Decorative and Artisan tiers require 115.0 Tailoring — don't attempt
these until your skill is high enough to succeed consistently. The 50% floor only applies at minimum skill; above 115 your odds improve rapidly toward the 130.5 guaranteed mark.
- Sell surplus Wool and Flax — if you gather more than you need, the
Carpet Weaver buys both (Wool at 31 gp, Flax at 51 gp), making this NPC a useful stop for gatherers even if they don't craft.
- Exceptional rugs are possible — keep an eye out for the Maker's Mark
prompt if your Tailoring skill is high. Exceptional house addons are a nice personal touch.
- Plan your orientation — runners come in N/S and E/W variants. Think
about which direction your hallways run before crafting to avoid ending up with the wrong orientation.
- Weaver's Spool has limited uses like other tools — buy a spare if you
plan a long crafting session.
