Welcome to Banes World! We're glad you decided to join our shard. This guide will walk you through your first steps — from creating your character to gearing up, training, and starting your adventure.
Your First Steps
After creating your character, open the nearest Moongate Portal and look under Favorites for Main Street. This is the central hub of the server — you'll find vendors, services, and other players here.
Containers
We use large containers on Banes World. Be sure to turn these on. On your paperdoll click options, then the UO symbol and scroll down. Click enable large containers, hit apply then ok.
New Player Gear Box
On Main Street you'll find a red box stocked with donated gear for new players. This is a great way to get on your feet quickly:
- Grab some starter armor and weapons.
- Pick up a pet if one is available.
- Everything in the box is free — take what you need to get going.
Training Your Character
The Britain Library
From any Moongate Portal, look under Favorites for the Britain Library. The library contains skill training books that will raise most skills up to 75.
- Each book costs a small amount of health when used.
- This makes the library a perfect place to train Healing at the same time — just bring bandages and study away.
- There is no skill cap so train everything you can !
Training Rooms
Also found under Favorites in the portal menu, the training rooms provide a safe environment to practice combat and magic.
- Practice weapons and training dummies are provided.
- Remove your armor before training — equipment takes durability damage when used on trainers.
- Bows do not require arrows when used on the training dummies.
- HINT!--Raise all your stats to 100 before you spend any [level points on them, You want all your points to go to over cap stats.
Leveling & Stats
Banes World uses a custom leveling system. As you gain experience and level up, you earn points that can be spent to raise your core stats.

Useful Commands
[level— Opens the level interface where you can view your progress and spend stat points.[expbar— Displays an on-screen experience bar so you can track progress at a glance.
Skill Caps & Power Scrolls
Your skill caps are raised by consuming Power Scrolls. These allow you to train a skill beyond its default maximum.
Where to Get Power Scrolls
- Combat & Magic Power Scrolls — Obtained through champion spawns, bosses, and other high-end encounters.
- Crafting Power Scrolls — The Master of Arts, located at the Crossroads in Trammel, drops these. The Master of Arts
- Tracking, Snooping, Poisoning, Item Identification, Hiding, & Detect Hidden are dropped by Lord Soth The Knight of the Black Rose He is located in Madon NW of Unblovia Lord Soth, Knight of the Black Rose
Skill Bonus Gear — Important Distinction
Not all +skill items work the same way:

|---|---|
| Rings, jewelry, and loot items with +skill bonuses | Raise the skill up to your current cap only — they will not push a skill over the cap. |
| BOD reward gear (obtained by turning in Bulk Order Deeds) | Does raise skills above the cap, allowing you to craft special items that would otherwise be impossible. |
BOD reward gear is the only equipment that breaks through skill caps, making it highly valuable for dedicated crafters.
Achievements & the UO Store
Banes World has an achievement system that rewards you with BW (Sovereigns) — the shard's premium currency.
- Type
[myachievementsto see what's available and start planning your goals early. - Earn BW by completing achievements, and spend it in the UO Store.
- Access the store by typing
[storeor clicking the UO Store button at the top of your screen.
The store offers leviable weapons, cosmetics, and many other useful items.
Gathering & Resources
Banes World features expanded resource types for leather, wood, and metal beyond what you'll find on standard shards.
- Resource nodes are static — if you find a vein of Valorite ore or a grove of Bloodwood, it will produce that same material every time you return.
- Explore and keep track of your favorite spots. Finding a reliable source of rare materials is a big advantage for crafters.
